Fast and Easy Associates Degree

Hey guys, I'm 41 years old and believe it or not, I'm looking to become a police officer.  I found plenty of departments in the area where I'm moving (Lynchburg, VA) that will accept without an associates but I'd rather go in with something more than just a GED. I'd also like to eventually get a BA and possibly masters at some point in the future. 

I would also consider a BA since I already have 29.5 credits but I'd like to finish in 12 to 18 months. I have the time to put into it.

Technical Writing - 3 credits
Foundations of American History - 3 credits
Understanding Music - 3 credits
Introduction to Literature - 3 Credits
Abnormal Psychology - 3 credits
Ethics - 3 credits

Total - 29.5
GPA 3.0

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:

None

Any certifications or military experience? None

• a BA in Criminal Justice officially part of their competency-based YourPace program
  
• an AA in Criminal Justice in their catalog; there's no reason I can see you couldn't complete that too through YourPace, but please confirm with UMPI that you can before acting based on the idea.

I actually just looked at UMPI. Pretty amazing opportunity. I just started looking into this today so I had no idea any of this was even out there.

Currently I'm thinking of a BOG associates from Piermont and then continuing on with a BA from YourPace.

I wrote Nancy Parks for the information on the BOG associates. Now I'm wondering if I could get a head start on the BA from YourPace by doing some work at Study.com/Sophia, etc.

UMPI is friendly to adding minors and to double majors, so you would not have to choose only one between CJ and Psychology.

I wouldn't waste any time or money with an associates. Check out UMPI criminal justice and psychology. Keep in mind you'll be doing a practicum with their psychology degree that could make things take longer and therefore, cost more. WGU now has a psychology degree also.

If thats the case I would 100% stick with UMPI's criminal justice or psychology. WGU's psychology program is too new.
