I am looking for a degree focused in Information Technology. I have over 20 years of experience as a network engineer and would like to have a degree focused in that. I am open to any of the major schools such as Thomas Edison and WGU. I would like to not write a lot of papers as part of the degree process.




I have completed most of the courses from Sophia.org and have lots of my general ed credits through them. I have just signed up for StraighterLine.com. What other courses should I take with SL? Should I start looking at upper-level courses through study.com? I also would like to get the most credits possible for my CCIE and experience.

I second this. OP, since you don't want to do a lot of papers, then WGU is a better choice than the general IT degree at TESU. I looked into the Cisco plan a few months ago, and the CCNA was regarded as the toughest certification in that program, followed by the DevNet one. You'll presumably be able to get credit for the CCNA class and possibly other classes as long as the certification is within 5 years. 

You can also opt for the WGU IT Management degree, but it's more business focused instead of technical, that would depend more on your career goals.

As origamishuttle stated, the best strategy would be to get the harder certifications out of the way and pre-study them or take the exam and transfer the cert, but keep in mind you need to do at least 30 credits (25% of the degree) with WGU as per their residency requirements. Some degrees vary in this so it's best to clear that up with their admissions/advising department.
