Frontier Institute of Technology: Elmwood Institute Rebrands
#1
Elmwood Institute is now the Frontier Institute of Technology at frontiertech.edu. As their short-form name they use Frontier. Let’s avoid calling them FIT, already used by the Florida Institute of Technology, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and others.

Frontier continues Elmwood’s degree programs. The Master of Leadership and Management (MLM) is still relatively very low-priced, but its price is up since launch. Tuition is $1800, plus a $50 per term tech fee and a $150 graduation fee. The BS in Data Science and BS in Software Engineering cost approximately $100 per credit. All are semester-based.

Frontier’s website newly emphasizes AI and pitches like “every Frontier student graduates with a venture.” Their Global Skills Academy will offer non-credit courses on AI, data, and entrepreneurship (“Founder’s Academy”).

Frontier continues Elmwood’s national accreditation from the Distance Education Accrediting Commission.

I suppose that's one way to avoid confusion with Elmbridge University?

Also, oddly, they're talking about three year Bachelor degrees even though they're a DEAC school and DEAC hasn't authorized those.

Because Frontier’s are still traditional 120 credit bachelor’s, but Frontier runs a tight year-round schedule in which they can normally be completed in three. Other schools have done this too before the advent of 90 credit bachelor’s. Full Sail for example doesn’t quite promote it as a three-year bachelor’s but it often works out similarly.

Oh yes, I remember them, it's a good deal for those who can get it as I recall they don't allow everyone in the US to enroll, only selective states, are they going to change that anytime soon?

Through NC-SARA they should be able to market to every state except California, so that's a little surprising.

Elmwood was originally based in California, which made it ineligible to participate in NC-SARA. Frontier is now based in Wyoming, so that option is available now.

Be interesting if they get confused with the Frontier Institute, a conservative think-tank, located in Montana... Usually the first thing when people think "Frontier" when in that area... So I see a lot of confusion potential.
