Get an AAS (for UMPI BAS) or just go straight for Bachelors elsewhere?
#1
- Your Location: Miami, FL
- Your Age: 26
- What kind of degree do you want?: Whatever makes the most sense. I think I want an AAS degree to transfer into the BAS in Business Administration from UMPI. I've also looked into TESU and Liberty.
- Current Regionally Accredited Credits: 60 credits from Miami Dade College (completed general AA degree with some business electives), 3 credits from Florida International University (Intro to Marketing Course), 14 credits from Moody Bible Institute (Philosophy course and the rest is probably elective credit)
- Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: SL: American Government and Introduction to Religion - SDC: Business Ethics, Princ of Management, Microeconomics, and Managerial Accounting
- Any certifications or military experience?: Securities Industry Essentials and Series 6 from FINRA
- Budget: Cheaply as possible
- Commitments: Currently half-time (6 credits) finishing remainder of courses, some financial planning on the side, and other side-gig work
- Dedicated time to study: Probably 30 hours a week
- Timeline: ASAP
- Tuition assistance/reimbursement: Pell Grant until 2026-2027 school year

Why not just go for the BABA? I wouldn't spend time completing an AAS especially since you've completed an AA. Just go for a bachelor's.

Agree with ss20ts - you could just apply with the credits that you have, as you have more than 90 and see what you may be missing that could be done on Sophia or Study.

Here are the degree plans: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:UMPI
Completed: HAU MBA | BA Economics

Does UMPI make more sense than TESU or Liberty or any other school for that matter?

Yes, I would choose UMPI as a heavy favorite compared to Liberty or TESU and other options, UMPI AALS freebie (it's completed without adding extra classes towards the BABA, just add the program and forget it) and BABA PM & IS concentration (or another concentration of your choice). ETAMU would be a great second option though if you wanted a back up choice to select from.

Having an AAS is only a prerequisite for the UMPI BAS degree specifically, not for any other degree from UMPI.
