Google IT Support Professional issue with Coursera/Credly
#1
Hello all, I’m having a bit of a weird experience with Coursera/Credly regarding the Google IT Support Professional certification. I had initially completed the course in late 2021 and got the badge on Credly. When generating the Credly transcript it was showing the ACE endorsement for the Google IT support professional badge. I noticed there was a new version on Coursera now so I went and re-did it. However it didn’t update my badge at Credly. I sent Coursera an email and they “manually updated my badge”, it now shows the new complete date of last week, but when I generate a transcript from Credly it no longer shows the ACE endorsement/recommendation. I emailed Coursera support again and they said this is a known issue with the current version of the badge and they hope it gets fixed soon. Is anyone else having a similar issue?  I’m only annoyed because I’m prepping to transfer credits to TESU and I’m worried if it doesn’t show the ACE endorsement on the credly transcript they won’t accept it for anything. Any ideas? Alternatively, when transferring credits from Coursera to TESU, does it need to go through credly or can I just share my cert link from Coursera? Thanks!

It's been a while since I looked at my Credly transcript, I don't recall, but at the bottom of the transcript, it should indicate if this is worth credit or not. Thus, you should review your transcript and see if it has notation or not... For transfers, it goes like this, Coursera > Credly > TESU. Your only option is to email Coursera, Credly, and TESU in regards to the issue...

I just looked at my Coursera Certificate and my Credly Badge and I can't find anything about ACE accreditation so maybe they just don't say that anymore?
Where was this located on the old one?

According to my advisor Coursera has to go through Credly.

I completed this recently, transcripted through Credly, and was granted credit within about 12 days.

Coursera is terribly buggy/glitchy, so I can't remember which issues I might have had with this course or if it was with others but ultimately I did complete this one and it was accepted by TESU.

It is free and quick/easy to have Credly send your transcripts, and then TESU will let you know if there is any issue with it or not.

I sent multiple transcripts from Credly within a short time frame and no one complained, so even if you have to resend again later I don't see any drawbacks to just going ahead and sending what you have via Credly and going from there.

Thanks for taking a look, I really appreciate it. Could you check on the actual transcript PDF from Credly by chance? On Credly when you click to send your transcript, after you fill out the first page with the email address and stuff, before it actually sends, there is a View Transcript link.

In the PDF that opens, previously it showed ACE recommendations for the Google cert, but now it no longer does

Ahhh ok yeah I see it now, I hadn't looked at the actual transcript pdf Credly sends before.

Yes, I do see the ACE (and FIBAA) recommendations for credit there on mine.

If Coursera can't fix it I would still just go ahead and send it to TESU. TESU knows they are ace recommended, or at least they should, my advisor knew. Then if it isn't working TESU might be able to reach out to Credly for confirmation that your badge is legit.

Have you tried reaching out to Credly to see what they think about it? Maybe they can do something on their end too.

Here's what my pdf transcript from Credly shows, 15 not 12 now:
American Council on Education
Course Number: GOOG-0001 (v.2) Total Credits: 15 Grade: Pass
Credit Recommendation:
• 3 semester hours in Introduction to Computers in the lower-division undergraduate category
• 3 semester hours in Systems Administration in the lower-division undergraduate category
• 3 semester hours in Introduction to Cybersecurity in the lower-division undergraduate category
• 3 semester hours in Networking Fundamentals in the lower-division undergraduate category
• 3 semester hours in Operating Systems in the lower-division undergraduate category

As I mentioned earlier, Coursera > Credly > TESU - You want to get in contact with Credly to update yours to include the ACE notations at the bottom. You can get in contact with Coursera too and indicate Credly isn't getting updated with the ACE recommendation, maybe Coursera can send things to Credly to reflect that change or update that... In any case, get in contact with all three, and resend yours to TESU

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Credly told me there was nothing they could do. I checked back in with Coursera again today after seeing your confirmation that it showed on your transcript, they did re-issue the badge today showing all the ACE endorsements now!
