America Celebrates Juneteenth, The Day Republicans Freed All The Democrats' Slaves

Quote:WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Senate has unanimously passed a resolution to recognize Juneteenth as a federal holiday, commemorating the glorious day Republicans freed the last of the Democrats' slaves.

"We are so proud to show the world how not racist we are by officially recognizing the day the Republicans came charging in to free all our slaves," said Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer. "Yeah-- we Democrats did a little 'whoopsie' with that whole slavery thing, but the Republicans corrected it. Thanks, Republicans!"

During this year's Juneteenth, the nation will gather to celebrate the American political party that was founded on protecting human rights of people of all skin colors. Democrats around the country will write letters of apology and organize celebrations for the vast network of Christians, Catholics, Quakers, and Republicans who fought and died to end the scourge of slavery in America.

Congress has also approved the building of a giant elephant statue in D.C. to honor the party responsible for the freeing of slaves from Democrat plantations.

And the parties are continuously shifting platforms. Many in the Lincoln-era Republican coalition were former Democrats. Some supporters of emancipation even became Democrats again within their lifetimes. Horace Greeley had co-founded the Republican Party and had been a prominent voice urging Lincoln to hurry up on emancipation, but he broke with Grant for several reasons and became the Democratic nominee against him in 1872.

By the FDR era Democrats outside the South had become warmer to Black civil rights and Black voters and even Black candidates and electeds were already shifting in substantial numbers to the Democratic side.

Supporters of Lincoln and the emancipation-era Republican Party included Karl Marx.

For how much they claim to love history, conservatives have a surprisingly difficult time remembering what Nixon's Southern strategy was.

They try to play the "Democrats created the KKK and owned slaves" until you ask them why Republicans today wave the confederate flag and their small brains explode.

Edit: ALSO, why are Ares' racist Aunt Jamema and Uncle Ben posts deleted? Did a Mod/Admin erase them or did Ares delete them himself?

I removed that post because it was too far off-topic to this thread about Juneteenth. By analogy, there could be a critique of Christian culture that's acceptable to post somewhere but is too far off-topic to a thread "Merry Christmas."

I'm disappointed with much of this discussion. on this topic Regardless of what events immediately proceeded Junteenth becoming a federal holiday, it is a good thing Every American should delight in the freedom of every other American. As I read the papers this A. M. I find myself compelled to write to the President again. If accurate, the many reports of Secretary Hegseth's direction only to have passive celebrations of Juneteenth is unprecedented and disgusting A lost opportunity to celebrate our Army's contribution to American freedom.

I think this TEXAS holiday is an embarrassing joke as a "Federal" holiday and I intentionally work it every year. It should not be a Federal holiday.
