In my country, the UK, the closest thing we have to TESU is the Open University and they will only take credits up to 16 years old.

Many colleges and universities in the US have time limits on credits. This was a problem I often ran into and was a huge roadblock in completing my degree. It was frustrating because I had already paid and completed many courses and couldn't receive credit for them. I was often told I would need to repeat many of my courses which made no sense to me. Why pay twice? Why spend the amount of time twice? Why do the work twice? Online programs have finally changed much of that nonsense. Some states have also enacted legislature about these problems because many adult learners have complained because it was ridiculous. State universities have become more transfer credit friendly. Some of the state universities wouldn't give university credit for community college courses in the same system. It was an absolute nightmare!
