Help, degree plan for Excelsior BS in IT
#1
Hello all, I am in the process of planning my degree in IT and I am considering using credits from Sophia, SL, and similar to transfer to Excelsior College. My goal is to take around 7 credits directly through Excelsior and use Sophia and related for the remaining credits. However, I am having difficulty creating a degree plan and scheduling my courses. Excelsior's degree requirements provide general education and major course categories but not specific course numbers or titles. Any degree plan example advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your Location: Germany
Your Age: 21
What kind of degree do you want?: BS degree, IT or similar
Current Regional Accredited Credits:18 from Sophia

Sophia – US History 1
Sophia – Visual Communications
Sophia – Art History 1
Sophia – Introduction to Ethics
Sophia – Physical Science: Environmental Science
Sophia – Workplace Communication (BUS 210)

Budget: $6K.
Dedicated time to study:20 hours a week.
Certifications: Google IT Support Professional Certificate.

@LuisaKönig, Welcome to the board, it's a good introduction post, follow up duplicate post (which I am merging), but not many of us are Excelsior students or alumni. I've done plans for Excelsior (11 years total) and have been away from that for a few years as TESU/UMPI is now the more popular options for Business related degrees. You need to create a spreadsheet and compare the requirements of what they need and what's available for transfer. Link us to that on your one/google drive as a viewable (not editable) file and we'll provide updates and recommendations... In fact, I would recommend TESU/UMPI over COSC/Excelsior any day of the week due to their unfavorable changes...

Have you considered options within Europe?

It seems like the Bachelor's in IT from Metropolia in Finland would be a good place to start, as it should come in much cheaper given that you are in Germany (assuming that you are an EU citizen):

That's correct, a very good recommendation, I would highly recommend you to take some time to review some previous posts and threads, along with the info on the WIKI, for example this asking a similar question: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...-in-Europe

Excelsior's IT degree is kind of impossible to get the way you want, AFAIK. You'd have to take a lot more Excelsior courses than you're hoping for. Assuming you're an EU/EEA area citizen, Metropolia makes a lot more sense! About 600€ and you can have everything done in 1-2 years.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210
