Help needed for degree planning
#1
This is a really great forum. I've been lurking here for a few weeks and have learned a lot of knowledge. Now I've decided to register because I have an idea and I'm not sure if it's feasible, so I'd like to ask for everyone's help.

I'm an international student currently in my junior year of an undergraduate English major. I want to apply for a Bachelor of Arts in English at either the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) or Thomas Edison State University (TESU). However, I only got a score of 5.5 in IELTS and 95 in Duolingo, which fails to meet the minimum language score requirements for admission. I noticed that for a bachelor's degree at the University of the People (UoPeople), only a Duolingo score of 95 is required. So, can I first apply for a degree at UoPeople, take some courses, earn some credits, and then transfer to UMPI or TESU to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in English in the middle of my studies? Is this plan feasible?

I have a limited budget. What kind of credit matching plan would be the most cost-effective?

Thank you all.

Welcome to the board, great intro post with some information to get the ball rolling, it's best to fill in the addendum and template to provide us a better overview of your scenario: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works

My suggestion right now is to start accumulating alternative college credit, by taking classes that go towards both institutions. You basically need to take your general education and elective classes, then do the major requirements at the institution for residency purposes.

Create a spreadsheet for both institutions, a tab or sheet for each one in the spreadsheet for comparison and for reference or tracking purposes, so you'll know what is required and how you're progressing through the degree plan. Good luck, have fun...

Thank you for your reply. Your suggestions are really great. I'm planning to earn some credits at Sophia or Study. Could you tell me where I can download a template for an electronic spreadsheet? I want to use it to compare the course names of several schools and keep track of the completion of my degree plan.

In addition, I'd like to ask whether the credits can be transferred from Sophia or Study to the degree program of Uopeople, and then from Uopeople to TESU.

Basically, You create your own spreadsheet with the information on the WIKI, here's the UMPI WIKI and the degree plans. It's best to provide more details with the addendum and template I linked you earlier...

WIKI: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Un...esque_Isle

Yes, In regards to transferring Sophia.org and/or Study.com classes to UoPeople and/or TESU, they'll both take them. If you're looking to transfer UoPeople classes to TESU, that will also work. Please update us...

Be aware that you can't study just any class you wish at UoPeople, there is a path to follow. You can check whether one of their certificates wouldn't be more suitable for transfer purposes.

Since you need to get RA credit, you may want to complete the UoPeople degree in Business (as an example), and then do a TESU BA English afterwards or UMPI BA English/Journalism on YourPace...
