grrrrrrrrrrrrrr Testing Centers
#11
Well, poop.

Tomorrow, when I go to Foothill College, I'll see how they are about back-to-back Dantes exams and let you guys know.

I'm okay using UOP Fairfield for CLEP, but for the benefit of anyone near the South Bay, I'm sending another email to the test administrator for National University's San Jose campus. I'll let you know if I get a response. Note that the name they show on the CLEP site is the San Diego coordinator, not San Jose.

Also, UOP told me that their San Francisco campus will start CLEP and Dantes testing in September.

Did anyone talk to Argosy? The Dantes site listed them in Point Richmond, but I when I looked them up, I found an Alameda address. Also, the Dantes listing had a 512 area code.

Here's the update on my Test Center experience at Foothill College...

They send you everything you need to remotely schedule your appointment, so that's easy. I chose a 90 minute block of time for each test, even though Dantes allows 120 minutes, as I usually finish in under an hour.

They are open for testing FIVE DAYS A WEEK.

They allow you to take tests back to back, if you prefer, and they do not limit the number of tests.

While they charge $25/hour for proctoring, they only charge what you actually used in test time. I took two tests and had reserved 3 hours of time. As it turned out, I only used 1 hour 45 minutes, so that's exactly what they charged me for. I figured they'd round it up to two hours, but no, they didn't. Do note that one hour is the minimum proctoring fee.

I may use Foothill college if I take Criminal Justice and Intro to Law Enforcement as I will probably want to take those back-to-back -- or with just a half hour in between -- and so Foothill would be convenient. But I still love UOP Fairfield's test center.

Oh, and New College in San Francisco is indeed closing, so we can take that possibility off our lists.

Here is what Carlos, test admin at National University's San Jose campus, told me about their services:

Quote:We do offer CLEP exams to non-NU students but we do not offer Dante exams here. You can make an appointment to take your CLEP exam with me by email or calling me at the phone number listed below. Our test dates at the San Jose campus are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am or 11am, every first and third Saturday of the month at 9am. There is a $40 no-refundable proctor fee payable by cash or money order and $65 per CLEP exam payable by credit card, check or money order.

They aren't inexpensive, but they are another option. Here's their contact info:

UOP Fairfield just dropped CLEP testing. I'm not going to take any more CLEPS (just DANTES and ECEs), but those who need to might have to search hard for options in the Bay Area. Hopefully, National University works for some people.
