Holy CRAP!
#1
Holy Crap! Well, I finally did it, I took the plunge and took my first CLEP (Principles of Management) tonight. About 5 questions into the test I began to think that I had totally overestimated my knowledge of the material. When I got to the end of the test and hit the "review" button to see which ones I checked because I wasn't sure about the answer, I realized that I checked about 40% of them. I was sure I failed miserably and even thought twice about hitting the submit score button. Well, I'm glad I did hit the submit button because much to my surprise up popped a big fat "68"

What I found odd was that I scored better on the CLEP than any of the Petersons, but I thought that the CLEP was much more difficult while I was taking it. I can't explain for this any other way than I might have just been a nervous first time test taker.

If anyone is thinking twice about taking that first test do not be intimidated, especially if it is management. I only studied the free Cliff's notes on their website and the three Petersons test, one of which I took an hour before I took the CLEP. There were some questions on the test that both Cliffs and Petersons did not cover however.

I just have to say that I could not have done this without the success stories from everybody on this forum to motivate me. Thanks to you all.

3 credits down, 117 to go! Next up, Principles of Marketing

No, actually I did not. I was pretty confident that I could pass management without signing up for the flashcards. However, I do think that I am going to get a membership before I start on the marketing as I have no background in that subject. Management came pretty easy to me because I have worked in the business world for the past 10 years.

I just don't know if I am going to try to CLEP out of marketing before my classes start at my local community college on Jan. 23rd. What is your opinion, can I pass marketing with studying IC for only 2 weeks?

Two weeks? Hmmmmmm.....that would really depend on 1. how much you will study, 2. how much will absorb, and 3. your current understanding of the topic. Everything is relevant with those 3-variables as they each in-turn rely on one-another. The 4-R's are the key!

I studied for marketing for 3-weeks and used many different study resources too. For me, 3-weeks was adequate but (for me) 2-weeks would not have sufficed. Good Luck!

Most likely, but it depends on how much and the quality of study. Know the concepts, not just memorize answers in the IC cards.

IMOO (I know some people will disagree since the score is important to them), you just need a 50. It's great to study more and get a 70, but you pass either way. Go to the CLEP website on CollegeBoard and get the percentages of what you need to study- nail the sections with the highest percentages, and you'll be fine.

I believe that a couple of hours a day for two weeks straight will be plenty.

I have not taken that exam, but I've taken plenty others. People study very differently.... so it's hard to say. You just scored a 68, an excellent score, so just keep doing what you did!
