Hey All,
Unless the powers that be keep conspiring against me like they have lately, my plan is to graduate in December, via the October deadline... however, every time I think I am getting close, something gets bungled up.
It's been one thing after another, and I will be so glad to get my degree and be done with them. Usually I am OK about it, but lately, they are on my last nerve.
The most current situation:
I talked at length to my advisor about the fact that I had:
1 General Bio course with Lab 4 credit hours
1 General Chem course with Lab 4 credit hours
1 Intro Chem course with Lab 4 credit hours
I asked repeatedly if this was OK. I got told yes, because it's two different areas, and one class is intro level, while the other is major level. Everything was planned out, and punched in correctly, as I see on my eval.
I send in the transcripts. I then waited 8.5 weeks for an update... and lo- and behold...
As I am looking at my NEW update... 4 science credit hours have been FOUND INELIGIBLE for my program... all the sudden... with NO Notes.
So that leaves me with... 1 science credit I have to complete ASAP.
I've been round and round lately with my advisor (who is usually good) and the team who punches this stuff in (who is usually not) and this is getting old.
I don't know what to do... whether to fight it, or where to find a one credit course I can complete PDQ.
Any ideas?
ETA: I figured out what they did... they tried to pop both of them in as CHE-111... which they are not... if anything one should be CHE-111 or CHE-121 and the other should be CHE-101. (I found this by looking in the database...)

I would ask that they look at this again. I'm with you, into chem is 101+ and general chem is 111+ EVERYWHERE, this seems like an oversight. I can't imagine that intro chem and general chem duplicate any credit.
By the way, what is your major?

I went ahead and updated my ticket with the information I found in the database, as well as the course numbers and descriptions from the school I took the classes at.
Sometimes I really do not think that department can read. I argued for 2 weeks with advisement that a class was worth 4 credits and not three, and called something different... they gave me some BS about how "that's not what it says on the transcript, so they're not obligated to change it"
And then got all upset and defensive when I faxed them my copy of the transcript which... surprise surprise, said exactly what I had said it did.... and then they fixed it. hilarious
I am a political science major.

Everytime my degree eval is updated it totally screws up the credit distributions. I'm not sure why...I would definitely stay on them until they fix it. Sorry you're having troubles.....I'm about in the same pickle, trying to finish classes and get them to update my eval in time for the Oct 1 deadline.

School admins, in general, drive me nuts. I swear some of the rudest, most inept people I have ever met are school admins. Now, there are a few good ones, to be sure, but in general...I hate dealing with them!

For the record, I am having the same problems consistently with EC. It's all relative. There is good and bad everywhere. EC just gave me 1/2 the ACE evaluated credits for a certification. I contacted them and they said "ooops, our mistake, we'll fix it immediately." After two weeks, they said "well, we have a backlog." I said "generally, the word "immediately" implies that it will be done fairly quickly." Ultimately it got resolved. Other times their service has been fantastic.
TESC did an evaluation for me on request in under 2 weeks and I AM NOT EVEN ENROLLED! I just said I needed it to make a decision. Considering they gave me good service plus 21 more credits and are not making me scrounge for 15 upper level Arts and Science credits, I'm ready to make the switch.
For the record. Both schools have been extremely polite and professional with me. One benefit is that I do my homework on these forums before I call so I can "politely" correct them when they give me erroneous advice. Also, if I am asking them to deviate from their written policies, I am extremely polite and even "kiss a little butt." That's just a smart part of doing business (write that down, you BSBA students)!

Wow,
I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have never had bad service from EC. Everytime I call it's "how can I help you?" or "We'll take care of the mix up right away." If anything, they tell me to give them a day or so for any updates and it usually happens as they say.
Even when I submitted my ACE and transcripts for an evaluation, they told me that it would take 5 - 7 weeks. They got it done in 4 days. That's why I say that I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't run into bad customer service. So far so good.

Just to update:
I was afraid this was going to be drawn out like the last issue I had, so the next morning, I called the advisement line as well, and got in with a different advisor than the one I usually used.
She got confused, and went to find the one that does work with me. He got upset and told her to tell me to be patient... and that he would get back to me when he had time.
He fixed the issue within 20 mins, and even changed some other things around in my plan for my convenience.
He apologized profusely, something this particular person is not known to do, and hilarious in the follow up email he included a PS which stated:
If you email us, there is no need to call too, we respond promptly to all email...
Which... well, made me laugh... because they do... but they sometimes get it wrong on that front, and it's my job to stay on top of them, especially considering I am so close to being done and one little admin mistake like this could blow it out of the water.
I am glad it got fixed though, and I only need 19 more credits... all of which are in progress or in the mail to be sent to them.
It's an exciting prospect that I might actually meet the deadline. :p
