How to raise my GPA-TESC
#1
I have 5 credits left to finish with TESC. 2 free electives planning to do with TEEX and 3 credits planning to do with TECEP. I need to raise my GPA from 3.78 to 3.8 to qualify for a scholarship. Any ideas how I can do this without needing to take another TESC online/guided study course?

Have you asked the school if they round the GPA up? If so, you have your 3.8 already. If not, if you need a TESC GPA of 3.8, the only way is to take another TESC course. TESC does not transfer in grades from other sources.

But it the scholarship is willing to look at cumulative GPA from ALL institutions, then you may be able to take an IS course from BYU or another school that can creep your GPA up. One super easy course through BYU IS was TMA-150 (Public Speaking). Unless it has changed, you can knock this out in a week or two and get an easy A.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I don't know if you can. ( I'm totally rounding/guessing- you can plug in real numbers )
When I use the GPA calculator and type in that you have 120 credits at 3.7 GPA
it takes 60 (SIXTY) new graded credits at a perfect grade A to push a 3.7 up to a 3.8
So without making my brain hurt, I think you're already sitting on your GPA where it is, you can't get it to 3.8 by my math unless you take a huge number of new TESC classes.

EDIT: oops- here's the link Calculate Your GPA

Great point. If you have a lot of UNgraded credit, one or two courses can give your GPA a significant jump. If you have a lot GRADED credit, the impact is much less. Having a high GPA to begin with further limits the effect.

Playing with the calculator quickly, I was able to take a 3.78 GPA to a 3.79 GPA with your remaining 5 credits. Now if the scholarship counts ALL credits, then you can in theory take more courses, but that sounds like the costs of the extra courses would completely eliminate any benefit of the scholarship to begin with.

With that, your best bet is to see if they will round up GPA.

Thank you to everyone who replied. TESC replied that GPA's will not be rounded up or down. The only way to raise it would be through TESC courses.
