I remember some people whining about how you can't live in a big expensive city unless you live in a tent on the sidewalk or something.
Thre are a few affordable housing options are available and creative ways to live in an expensive city without resorting to living in a van or tent.
Tiny living in New York City- I live in an 80 sqft apartment for $385/month in downtown Manhattan including electricity!

Would you prefer to live life in this apartment or a van?

This isn't a true apartment. It's a bedroom...barely. There's no bathroom. No real kitchen. No thanks. Not interested in living like a college student in a dorm at my age.

I'm not sure what you mean? This is perfect for a family with 3 kids + 2 dogs to live in!

Before I got married and had kids, I really wanted to live with a "zero carbon footprint" & mortgage free during the early years of having or using those "tiny homes". I think over the last decade or two, the tiny home movement came along pretty well, people (singles/couples) are starting to live in these smaller homes and being debt free. I believe I'd go for the van. At least with a van you could rig a shower and toilet, outdoor covered porch and utilize the open spaces outdoors.

Despite the size, that's a really amazing deal for the location. Such a good deal that I would want both the apartment and the van. Keep the van parked at a much cheaper location out of the city, then go on extended trips when the mood strikes.
