Fun Optical Illusions
#1
Would you believe that these 2 boxes in the middle are EXACTLY the same color?

Try moving your finger slowly across the middle of the box. Eventually, you will see that they are both the same color!

Looks like scene lighting placement is what makes the difference.

To be fair, in real life they would be very different shades. This is not so much an optical illusion as it is a reminder that digital representations do not necessarily correlate to the physical world. It's still kind of cool though.

What is happening is that your brain is tricking you to believe that one of the square boxes is in the shade when it isn't. They are both pixel perfect the same exact color of rgb(155, 155, 155). This works if you print out the image as well.

It's weird, on the ipad mini 2, they all show as flipped upside down, until I reach the bottom 6. On the laptop screen, they're all right side up, I don't see it at all start flipped upside down. Cool, I'll test this out again, seems funny, it's just an interesting illusion!

I think the size of the image makes a difference.

For me, it's easier to see on my tablet, though for larger screens, I can see it more clearly if I adjust the zoom on the browser for a smaller size.

Well, I guess the first one I looked at was right side up because all I see is right side up.

I've tried to see any of them as upside down and it's not happening  Smile

Here are 2 images of a traffic light. The image on the right has a cyan filter that red can't pass through, yet your eyes LIE to you, convincing you that there is some red there when there is ONLY gray!

So if our brains are hardwired to bend our perception of physical reality. Then what about our brain's capability to bend emotional reality based on a basis?
