COSC AA Degree
#1
My son is planning out an Associates Degree for Charter Oaks. We contacted them and they said that he can transfer in up to 57 credits for an AA degree, meaning he would only have to take 1 class there. What we didn't ask is how many of those credits can be from the same place. He took advantage of the free Sophia classes and has a bunch from there. How many ACE credits from one place will transfer in for an AA degree. I know its 90 for a BA degree so I was thinking maybe 45 for an AA? Thanks.

What does the COSC website say?

COSC website says 45 for ACE/nccrs (non regionally accredited) in the section called "Credits from Non-Collegiate Course Providers"
https://www.charteroak.edu/catalog/curre...r_inst.php
"Typically, students will be limited to a total of 90 degree-applicable credits for a Bachelors degree and 45 degree-applicable credits for an Associate degree, from non-regionally accredited course providers, even if an agreement is in place."

I don't know if they further limit the 45 in a way that restricts per provider. I haven't heard that.
You can get the other 57-45 = 12 credits from "regionally accredited" sources such as community college or TECEP or UExcel exams if I understand that part of the website correctly Smile

I don't believe there's a limit on that other than the ones we've already discussed.

Also, it's "Charter Oak State College", singular.
BS, Information Systems concentration, Charter Oak State College
MA in Educational Technology Leadership, George Washington University
18 doctoral level semester-hours in Business Administration, Baker College
In progress: EdD in Educational Leadership, Manhattanville College

Don't forget ASU as a source of RA credit. The last batch of $99 classes starts on August 18th and there are a few self-paced options that can be taken immediately.
