IC Version 2 Feedback and Users Guide
#1
April 10th 2009 Hey everyone in an effort to keep my entries on this thread short I will simply edit my original post with new info in Bold. I just took my first exam with IC version 2 as prep. Thought I would throw some stuff out there. Hope alot of people will come along as the switchover happens. I am not sure if I will have any more feedback as I do not need to take anymore exams covered by version 2 cards.

For those who asked version 2 is instantcerts successful resetup of the way information for exams are presented to the user. I have now used it twice and of course have the two highest scores I have ever achieved on DSST's

I took History of the Vietnam War. Scored a 64. Felt confident the whole way.
Here is my feedback for IC version 2. I didnt personally use any other method just IC.
Took Western Europe Since 1945 April 10th. Scored 59. Again confident the whole way.
The format is awesome. At first Version 2 feels a little slow. Its not. Its just more configurable. With sound on this particular one you can sit and have a cup of coffee while you listen to lecture or go fast through the definitions and explanations. I like going straight through the cards reading and understanding explanations.

Version 2 of the cards is very fast when you have gone through the cards once and want to review quickly. One of the more impressive features is that the word appears as it should in the sentence. Intstead of having to scan down the page, you read the sentence perfectly in stride increasing overall understanding. I study with the sound off but that is avery impressive option
I also found it useful to have 3 browser windows up. One for the cards, One to look up definitions quickly, and one to delve, through google or altavista, deeper into a concept or figure listed on the card. Hope that helps

Used IC for 4 hours I would recommend a little more study time however. 6 to 8 or more if you need it. I did not even have to review the dsst guide but I would recommend that too.

Anyways History of Vietnam War V2 is awesome.
As I said I scored 64.
Felt confident the entire test I would at least pass or be competitive.
I will update if I take History of Western Europe as I don't need to take here's to your health

Hi MadMax,
Thanks for the overview. I don't mean to sound ignorant but what is version 2? I was previously using the IC cards but stopped as I am easily frustrated when I can't recall things. Did something change? Thanks!

Madmax--

Congrats on passing Vietnam and thanks for the feedback on the test. It's good to hear that you liked it! We haven't received a lot of opinions on the new software yet...

I must agree, the v2 format is excellent! Grouping related questions on a single flashcard helps me retain the info better because I can see how X links to Y more clearly. I really like the feature that allows you to go through the flashcards you missed - the v1 sets already have the correct answer filled in, but the v2 one forces you to remember the correct answer on your own. (and if there were multiple questions on that flashcard, you have to answer them all, thus reinforcing what you've retained)

More v2 sets, pretty please!

The new versions are marked with a red v2 to the right of the set name.
