How do exam credits appear on transcrips?
#1
Hi Everyone,

Just wondering how exam credits show up on your transcripts at Excelsior or TESC. I know that CLEPs are pass/fail and Dssts/ECEs are graded; I was wondering if the descriptions are listed as exams, rather than courses. In other words, would an employer or grad school admissions board be able to differentiate between a degree earned mostly through exam credit vs. a degree earned through courses at a brick and mortar school? How do GRE subject exams appear? Apologies if this has been covered already- didn't find using search..Big Grin

Thanks!

Exams at TESC show up with an equivalent course number and CR or NC. There are no numerical or letter grades posted on your degree audit or transcript for any type of exam.

At my college they just show up as transfer credit and the transfer institution is listed as "CLEP". As far as knowing if you tested out of things I guess they'd know if they got ahold of your transcript. I think employers want to know where the degree is from and what the GPA is, that kind of thing. Everyone I've mentioned testing out to about has been impressed with it. I've found that when people hear the phrase "testing out", they just think you're really smart. Rolleyes
