Has anyone done a History major with just CLEPs, DSSTs and TESC courses (and maybe FEMAs)? Meaning no Excelsior tests? I would prefer to just take UL DSSTs for my UL requirements, but I don't know if there are enough. I found this info on UL vs LL DSSTs; any thoughts on how accurate/up to date it is? http://www.free-clep-prep.com/dantes-exams.html

I don't know about the tests, but if you wind up needing classes keep University of Idaho Independent Studies in mind as they have several for a bargain price (about $100/credit) History-Independent Study in Idaho-University of Idaho

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Actually, you do have enough options for UL credit through DSST and TESC courses.
DSST
HIS-309-DE An Introduction to the Modern Middle East
HIS-351-DE A History of the Vietnam War
HIS-386-DE Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union
TESC Courses
African History and Culture (HIS-301)
African American History (HIS-306)
The Middle East (HIS-310) don't know if they'll accept both 309 and 310
War and American Society (HIS-356)
Remember that the capstone counts toward the 18 credit hours.
If you want to see how TESC transcribes tests, use these two links. The only inaccurate part is that 3 of the 4 human services tests are transcribed as social sciences.

Thanks for the answers, everyone! What I'm asking I guess is, can I take something like Intro to World Religions (an upper level DSST that TESC classifies under "Humanities") and have it count toward my 18 upper level History credits? Has anyone done that?
Here's what I have planned for my 18 UL History credits now:
Liberal Arts Capstone (TESC, 3 credits)
Leaders in History (TESC, 3 credits)
Intro to Modern Middle East (DSST, 3 credits)
Vietnam War (DSST, 3 credits)
Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union (DSST, 3 credits)
World Conflicts Since 1900 (Excelsior, 3 credits) OR ANOTHER UPPER LEVEL DSST
Thanks for the recommendations for classes but tests are the least expensive so that's what I'm trying to stick with I'm trying to see if I can substitute a DSST for the Excelsior "World Conflicts Since 1900" but if I can't, I'm fine with taking that.

No. Intro to World Religions is almost always a humanities course no matter which school you attend.

Oh. well then, can I pick from the DSSTs TESC classifies under "Social Sciences" (where they've put all the other history DSSTs) and use one of those in place of the Excelsior? (Like, I think Organizational Behavior, Money and Banking and Substance Abuse are the only ones over 300. Would one of those work?)

Most likely not. TESC doesn't even accept political science/government courses as history courses, so they definitely are not going to accept psychology and sociology courses. It needs to be a course that is transcribed with the HIS prefix. Organizational Behavior, Money and Banking, and Substance Abuse aren't even close to being history courses.

TESC will give credit for both the DSST exam and their course. I know this because back in 2010 I took both for the BA in History degree. The great part is that the material is virtually the same for both so it makes it easier to get 6 credits!

Thanks for the great replies everyone. However, since I just found out 5 Excelsiors are now $95 instead of $300+ ( see here) , I think I will go ahead and take World Conflicts Since 1900
