My credits, my plan
#1
I'm waiting to be evaluated for a TESC BA Social Sciences. I think they're going to have a hard time with my transcripts. My only semester units are tech classes from my local community college and CLEPs/DSSTs. I have trimester business credits from Johnson & Wales U that I'd like to roll into a BSBA after I've gotten this one done. There's some ugly duplication I won't get credit for; when I tried to complete my degree at CalStateLA they refused to transfer all but one of my courses.

The last I could find was that TESC considered trimesters to be the same as semesters, but the current catalog doesn't have this policy spelt out. My JWU classes very suspiciously come out to three semester units using TESC's formula for quarter credits (all the 4.5s). Below I've converted the quarter credits and left the tri's intact. Has anyone tested their Trimester policy more recently?

English Comp (need 6)
1h20 Honors English Comp (4.5)
1h21 Honors Advanced Comp & Communication (4.5)

Humanities (need 12)
1h01 Honors intro to lit genres (4.5)
250 Media Culture and Identity (2.66)
405 DSST World Religions (3) (done)

Social Science (need 12)
150 Govt + American Society (2.66)
155 Critical Analysis of Political communications (2.66)
111 CLEP Macroecon (3) (done)
112 CLEP Microecon (3) (done)
+A little overhang from area of study

Math & Science (need 12)
102/103 CLEP College Math (6) (done)
1010 Microcomputer Applications (4.5)
100 Business computer systems (2.66)
283 Intro to Application programming (2.66)
155 Animal Biology (2.66)
74 Intro to A+ Comp Repair (4)
35 Intro to Linux+ (3)
81 Fiber Optics (1)
81 Fabrication Techniques (1)

GE Electives (need 18)
Overhang from above, probably mostly Spanish

230 CLEP Edu Psych (3) (done)
309 DSST Middle East (3) (upcoming)
351 DSST Vietnam War (3) (upcoming)
305 DSST Substance Abuse (3) (upcoming)
262 (331?) DSST Intro to Counseling (3) (upcoming)

Electives (need 27)
1001 Principles of Marketing (4.5)
1001 Intro to Global Business (4.5)
1001 Principles of Management (4.5)
2001 Legal Environment of Business 1 (4.5)
101 Intro to higher ed for bus majors (1.33)
200 Principles of Accting 1 (2.66)
205 Legal & Reg Environment of Business (2.66)
(+Any leftover overhang)

I'm just a bit worried about relying on a generous tally. I could take French and some FEMAs in a pinch to round out my electives, and may do that anyway just for kicks, but there's so many moving parts to my B&M classes that I'm worried if I try to get pro-active on the questionable stuff I'll end up taking the wrong exams (example: If my CIS and Tech classes don't count as science I'll be a course short there but probably wont need any more free electives).

Here's how they evaluated my credits. Unfortunately what I found out today was that CalStateLA never forwarded my transcript  so I'll have to re-order and wait for that to be checked out. None of my Area of Study credits have posted yet so I've left that section cut.

My new plan is to complete the 4 upper level Social Science DSSTs I have left, then Intro Psych, Intro Soc and Human Growth CLEPS, along with Chemistry and Natural Sciences. That should cover my bases in case TESC doesn't count my last CIS classes as science (seems doubtful now) or transfers something in at a lower level.

It looks like I'll also automatically qualify for an AA once everything transfers in. I'm also only 11 credits short of an AAS in Applied Computer Studies. Is requesting my AA going to put me at a credit disadvantage if I want the AAS later? How would either Associates effect my plans to get a BSBA later? Ideally, I would try to get an AA with my BA now and the AAS with the BSBA with as little fuss as possible.

Here's my Area of Study evaluation for the AAS. Is it even possible to test out of the remaining credits needed? If not then just getting the AA seems like a no-brainer:
