TESC September Graduation/July Courses
#1
I was planning to complete my graduation application with TESC this month, however I was also planning on taking some courses from TESC in July. I called them and asked about the September graduation, and they said the date will be in the second week of September.

I know on the application, it says all your external transcripts need to be into the school by July 1st. What about if you are taking classes with TESC? The July classes go July-Sept 24. Could I still graduate by taking July TESC courses, or should I just try to test out of my last three requirements? Has anyone taken the July classes and still graduated in Sept?

If you need the credits from those TESC courses for graduation the latest semester to enroll would have been May for September graduation. The deadline for posting grades for July semester will be any time Sep 24-Oct 4. Unfortunately this is much too late for September graduation although you would be good for December.

So if you want to graduate in September, and still need credit, your options at this point would be to test out, use Straighterline, Penn foster or some other credit that could be received at the school by end of July.

Good luck!

Depending on what course format you'll be taking, and on your own motivation, this doesn't necessarily have to be a problem. I just realized last week that if I could finish my course (I was working on the completely self-guided FlashTrack version of War and American Society.) and take the final early enough, I could possibly get in on the September graduation. I took my final 3 days ago, almost 2 months earlier than the course is supposed to take. I'm going to have to bug TESC to grade the final once they get it, but I've already had it from them that they are willing to do that "for graduation or something."

If you're highly motivated and have time AND your course(s) come in the FlashTrack version, I think you could still get in on the Sept graduation, though it might be a push. You could easily make it for the December graduation no matter what though!

Elinor,

So was your course the May semester? If you don't mind me asking, if you took the final at 30 days, when did you take your midterm? Even if you did finish on time (July), you were in the correct month for the September graduation. Plus I see you already have taken all the exams that are basically built into that course. You probably could have written up a PLA (if available) and been done in two-three weeks. If there were an October or November graduation what the OP is looking to do would not be a problem.

I've never taken a flashtrack but have taken an epack. With epacks you don't haved a midterm just a comprehensive final that you can take early but you must wait a minimum of one month. So yes, if the OP began a course in July s/he could theoretically test first week of Aug then wait for grades and hope they can get her file certified in time; its just cutting it too close. They would probably say she would have to wait for December. More importantly you are taking a gamble in not getting good grades when you rush through courses.

If this was a PF or SL, its only transcribed as CR but for a TESC course it could seriously damage your GPA. And the OP is not taking one course, s/he mentioned courses. I think its smart to take your time and do well. Just my opinion.

Yes, it was the May semester. FlashTracks don't have midterms, just a pen and paper final whenever you want to take it. I might could have done a PLA, but they scare me. :p I figured, since I have taken tests that are essentially that course, I would manage to do alright.

Sounds like flashtracks and epacks are really similar, but I wasn't told I had to wait a month before the final (though I almost ended up doing that).

That was all I was trying to say. Theoretically, it's possible, but I thought I made it pretty clear that it wouldn't be easy. Perhaps I didn't though - I tend to have a problem with that... :o

Yes. I agree. Move at a pace you're comfortable with, and do well. If that pace happens to be a fast one, all the better, but if not, hey! That's fine too!

(Dear, mm1988, listen to bricabrac! I haven't yet received the grade for my final, so my opinions may be null and void in the near future. Sad)

Elinor,

Thank you for the information on the flashtrack format. I knew it was totally independent but had no idea it did not require midterm. Too bad I've already completed all courses or I would try one.

With your background I'm sure you aced your final!! Congrats on completing your final six credits!
