Job seeking with bls with management and project management minor

Just curious, what jobs people have gotten after finishing that degree w umpi? And would like to know the best options we qualify for; especially, in the medical/hospital field.

Depends on the person, there are so many various variables in play, some/most people are doing this for personal reasons not for changing careers. For those who are looking to go up the ladder, they stay in their current profession and maybe apply to internal positions that are of a higher salary. You need to search for what you want to do in the fields you mentioned, having a BLS for hospital/medical field would mean, you're looking at anything that requires a degree, that's all, you'll not get anything that requires a specific degree for licensed health professions (nursing for example)...

UMPI has indicated a Health Administration major might become available in YourPace in the future. If you're in the US or Canada and looking for a CBE degree to move to the health sector you might also look at WGU.

I work for a regional healthcare system with over 10,000 employees and I am a UMPI graduate. My job title is Director of Facilities/Maintenance. We have project managers in construction management and our larger hospitals. There are a lot of nonclinical jobs in healthcare, you just have to look for them. Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) are another healthcare option that have numerous nonclinical jobs.

Not only the country, but the state or even the city will have different options for you to select from, it's best to search websites to see what is available, draft up your resume and portfolio, then apply to ones that you know you have the requirements fulfilled. They all look at the full package, if for non-clinical positions, you've already got the 'check the box' degree, for some other positions, it may require extra certs or experience, so work on the trifecta.

The last thing healthcare needs is more administrators lol. I love it when they tell me how to do my job when they, 1. Have no idea what I do 2. No medical background to even make an educated guess regarding realistic expectations. I just smile/nod and do what I want to do.

"Hey John, we really need you to cut your visits down to 15 minutes so we can add on a few more patients and increase productivity"

ME: These are complex patients who need more extended and flexible visit times.

"Yeah but our billing and RVU cycle says we are at  YYY and need to get to ZZZ

ME: I am not risking my license to provide substandard care and I don't see any of this money regardless. I am going to do what I think is best.
'
"Oh, okay...*shuffles back to desk* and eventually leaves at 2-3PM every day

To answer OPS question, I am not sure what "healthcare" degree you expect from an online CBE program. The only thing even close would be a healthcare management degree, which are a dime a dozen as hundreds of programs already exist...

It's hard to know how to help you if you're not more specific about what you would like to do. The BLS is fantastic if you already have a job and need a degree to move up. It's great if you're looking to add some leadership training to your resume?
There are many jobs in healthcare; not everyone should be a doctor or nurse or PA; it's ok, it doesn't make you less valuable IMHO. WGU has bachelor's in health and human services that looks fantastic IMO.
Look, you have to be more specific. I always advice folks to work backwards from what they want; this way their degree path becomes clear, and you'll spend less money on your journey. While you are doing your degree, make sure to pick up certs and experience along the way. As an example, a buddy of mine did a BLS just so that he could enter an accelerated nursing program. He had already done premed in the Philippines, decided being a doctor was his parent's dream and not his, and had a considerable number of sciences under his belt. He just never finished. He re-did some gen eds in Sophia, finished a BLS at UMPI and applied and got into an accelerated program in NY because the school just wanted the nursing pre-requisites, and ANY bachelor's degree with at least a 3.0 GPA.

That makes sense as a way to use the BLS

The health administration degrees are all bloated fluff and have disconnected curriculums that are rarely applicable in a healthcare setting. I saw an email today from admin requesting to have ER doctors cover for emergency crash c-sections if anesthesia was not available. This is laughably asinine and dangerous. It highlights the problems when nonclinical "health" employees try to make healthcare decisions. They were too cheap to pay for extra anesthesia help, so they thought they would devise a pseudo clever and lawsuit-worthy plan instead.

I think the degrees work as an adjunct if you already have clinical experience but for someone with none, not so much. In my 15 years, it has just been headache and after headache.
