The moderator for my Kansas page just shared this today! I'm unfamiliar with this program, but it looks like high school students can take advantage of free courses through DeVry. These WOULD transfer into any of the big 3! DeVry Kansas City Passport2College

I couldn't change the title, but this applies to other states too - but not EVERY state

Below are the campuses where Passport2College is offered. Contact a DeVry University representative at one of these local campuses for more information.

Atlanta

From their page:

Haha, that's awesome. Thanks for sharing this. This is very helpful...
I assume youngsters in those states should ask Devry and see if they can enroll.

It feels like this is the teenage version of a timeshare presentation with a freebie. Sorry, but I don't like this. Especially in California where high school students can enroll in community college for up to 11 credits per term for around $50 plus books. I'm 99% sure that the education at the community college is going to be way better than at DeVry.

Can you share that high school info? That's fantastic!

He means $50/per credit I believe, the standard rate for california community colleges.

It's a state wide thing, just need your high school's permission (and parents' of course), and be at least a junior. Not sure if this is all schools, but at least my community college alma mater waived all extraneous fees like student health services and enrollment fees, so you're only paying per credit tuition + books.

Edit: digging around some more at schools close to me, some community colleges here let in freshmen/sophomores, so I guess admissions vary greatly.

No, it's approx $50 all-in to cover the miscellaneous fees and $0/per credit.

Here it is for one CA community college: http://www.mtsac.edu/counseling/docs/Spe...r_2016.pdf Look at the bottom of the page 4 where it says no enrollment fees. Enrollment fee is $46/credit in-state which is reduced to zero. You can't do full-time during non-summer terms, so you have to not exceed 11 credits or you get charged the enrollment fee. I think the college may have the right to restrict enrollment further than the 11 credit max or to turn you down entirely. In that case, just add on another CA community college district.

Back in high school, I abused the heck out of this program. Instead of taking a year-long AP course, I can be done in "just" 4 months or even less during the summer.

Out of curiosity, is MtSAC where you went? If so, and you still live around the area, I suspect we're pretty close.

I don't live in Walnut anymore, but I visit there every few months because of family.

Dual enrollment in CA is practically free - the enrollment fee of $46/unit is waived if you take less than 12 units/semester. There are some minor fees, but not enough to make a difference.

For states where this is not available, then obviously DeVry might be the best option. Also, if you want to get UL courses, you can't get those at a CC.
