Graduate School Courses
#1
Do anyone know of a school that offers affordable graduate courses that can be taken by undergraduate students?

If your enrolled at TESC, you can double dip grad classes. I think you need to have completed 99 undergrad credits, and then you take grad classes that count for both degrees. This is a good deal if you don't mind earning your BA and MA from the same school.

Not cheap, but at Welcome to Harvard University you can take up to 3 grad level classes before the completion of your bachelor's. It's open enrollment, so there is no application or sending of transcripts. You just sign up.

Excelsior also usually allows "double-dipping" of graduate courses by undergraduate students. However, their courses aren't exactly the best tuition rates, though.

The University of Georgia has some very reasonably-priced graduate courses. Courses are available in the fields of Accounting, English, Health Promotion and Behavior, and Management; however, there's only one or two graduate courses offered per subject. Courses are listed here: Course Offerings

Here are the specifics on cost, from the University of Georgia site: "Tuition for IDL courses is $181.00 per semester hour, with the exception of those University of Georgia students who are classified by the University as nonresident (out-of-state) students. UGA out-of-state students who wish to receive resident credit for UGA courses will pay $787.00 per semester hour. All tuition, fees, or other charges are subject to change at the end of any semester." Fees and Financial Aid

Basically, as long as you're not currently a student at the University of Georgia, you can take advantage of the great tuition rate. A student at the U of Georgia, though, who is classified as an out-of-state student, will pay some pricey tuition. For the rest of us, though, $543 is a great rate for a three semester hour graduate course.

Thanks, I'll look into both links listed. Double dipping is a great way to save money and time. I obtained my AA 12/07 and wanted to get my BA by 12/08, then obtain my MA by12/09. Well I started late in acquiring my BA this year but could finish it and get conferred by February. So I figure if I take some graduate courses within my BA degree, I could still possibly get my MA by 12/10.

Have anyone found any other colleges that offer graduate independent study courses?

Are you in school at one of the big three? Specifically TESC or EC? Both allow you to apply to the "Bachelor's to Masters" programs for your last year. TESC it's at 99 credits. (some colleges call these 3+2 programs- same thing)

I'm an Excelsior student, they allow two of their own courses I believe but their cost is astronomical. I've considered taking Chadron graduate courses, but the ones they are offering in the spring aren't in their MSOM degree, which is the degree I'm really leaning towards acquiring. Although I would consider a different school if other colleges priced around the $200 per credit hour for graduate courses would also allow courses to be taken prior to obtaining a bachelors degree.

Thanks for the Georgia link above, but after looking more into courses offered, I realized that the 5000 level courses that are usually masters degree level courses at most schools, is at a bachelors degree level at that school. Thanks anyway.
