MDS ramble ramble
#1
Just throwing this out there. I am RAC certified through aanac, Which is an MDS certification comprised of 10 cources/tests from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services). Anyone know if this could be awarded credit from tesc? Or how to find out?

No experience with that nursing cert, but when I asked TESC about my IT certs I was told unless it was ACE approved they wouldn't award credit for it.

I ended up going to COSC because I could get credit for the ones already evaluated and pay $300 for the others to get evaluated for credit. It was worth it to me getting UL credits and degree requirements completed.

Not sure on the specifics of the coursework for the cert but if you think it would line up with either COSC's Health Information Management or Health Care Administration it might be worth the $300 evaluation fee to get multiple courses awarded for the one fee.

My 2 cents

I'm going to say they probably won't accept it based on my own experience. I asked about getting credit for a state certification I have that is medicaid billable but TESC said they wouldn't give me credit, even though there are college courses around the country offering classes in this prior to taking the state exams.

I will say that this is probably the biggest drawback to TESC - their not accepting certifications that COSC and EC are willing to look at.

But it's only worth it to pay the fee if you think you're going to get a lot of credits for that cert. $300 at COSC, for possibly getting zero credits, or even 3cr, is an expensive option.

If I were you though, I'd still ask, because until you do the answer will be 100% "no". By asking, there's always a chance it will be a "yes" in your favour.

How do you find out? Only one way- look it up. The ACE database is where you go https://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseacti...rchResults

I looked and they are not listed. I also checked AANAC and they state that RAC is only for continuing ed.
