MS Data Science/Data Analytics options?
#1
My job would offer me a raise for getting a masters in data science or data analytics so I'm looking at my options.

I saw Eastern University's program (cheap and fast) but for personal reasons, I'd like to only consider secular schools.

WGU's program looks good. If I can finish in 3 terms or less the price is pretty good.

At about $13k Truman State University's data science program is also in the running. I like that Truman offers a grad certificate you can do first and roll that into the masters.

I'm leaning toward WGU because I prefer working on one or two classes at a time at my own pace. Does anyone know if WGU's program is doable in one term if you have a bit of experience?

I'm ultimately just wondering if anyone's heard of a good program I should consider. I don't have tuition reimbursement, so cost is the primary factor, followed by time.

From my understanding, the classes at Eastern aren’t really “too” religious.  I know there is a user (Dustin) on the sister forum who is in the program now (or recently).  You could post over there to get feedback from users who have gone through the program at Eastern.  Just in case it really doesn’t include any of the religious content you don’t want.  https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php

I am not really a fan of WGU.  I am not familiar with Truman at all.

Actually, there is a very thorough thread about Eastern too…. https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?thr...10k.57214/

I don't really have an issue with religious content. I'm queer and religious universities can request a Title IX exception granting them the right to discriminate against queer folks. I don't know if Eastern has requested (or been granted) this exception but I'd prefer not to risk it. Even mentioning you're queer on a non-school social media page can have a student removed from some religious schools.

This is awesome! Thanks for the link! Definitely the right price and no need to rush my studies.

From what I understand, Eastern is very Liberal, so I would be surprised if they are not inclusive.
But the EdX program seems like a great option and similarly priced. I also like that you can start with a micromaster… so you can get a credential along the way.

Are you just looking at Data Science and Data Analytics or are you open to Business Analytics programs? There is a difference in the goals of the courses therefore, they are typically structured differently.

For virtually the same price as the Georgia Tech offering mentioned earlier, the U of Texas - Austin is a very good program. I usually recommend people to apply to both Georgia Tech and U of Texas - Austin as both programs are highly ranked (almost always equal to each other, not only in ranking, price, but quality of content, instruction, etc). I prefer a data science program, although I think  data analytics is similar enough for my needs. I'd consider a business analytics program, too. I work in analytics at the moment but need a masters for a raise and because most jobs want a masters degree.
