I noticed there are a lot of people on this site sweating the College Math CLEP. I studied for just two weeks using IC and free downloaded tests from the web and got a 61. I took a lot of math in High School but that was 22 years ago, when I started studying for this I couldn't do a basic algerbra problem. With the help of my wife and a lot of aggravation, I pushed through and just took the test. Much to my surprise, the test had little to do with most of the material I studied; I overstudied if anything. Concentrate on word problems and basic terminology. IC went way too deep in my opinion as I was unable to do half of the material they presented. Feel free to e-mail or respond if you have more questions, but don't sweat it, just prepare and do it. Hope this helps someone out there, Lee

Is there any particular area on the flash cards that you feel should be studied more than the others?
Thanks for you help.

I would concentrate on general math i.e. fractions (*-+/), conversions of fractions and decimals, mean/real/primary numbers (IC covers all of these), and most importantly: word problems/statistics. My test consisted of 70% of these. Yes there was the occassional crazy geometry/algerbra question which stopped me cold, simply guess and move on. Concentrate your time on the areas you studied. DISCLAIMER: I'm not sure if there are variations of the test, this is simply what was on mine. I knew I passed when I walked out just by counting the ones I was pretty sure I got right. Hope this helps, Lee

BasketWeaver,
Did the College Math CLEP satisfy the Excelsior Math Reqt for BSLA or did you have to take the College Algebra CLEP as well? I completed the first CLEP years ago and have been waiting a few weeks for my degree audit. I saw you post and thought you might know.
Also, I think I saw in one of you other posts you are/were stationed in England in a maintenance unit. RAFL or RAFM?
Appreciate anything you can assist with.
Thanks, drkjon

Hi drkjon,
I'm obviously not Basketweaver, but I can answer this question for you.
CLEP College Math does indeed fulfill Excelsior's math requirement for the BSLA.
I'm sure that's good news for you,

Thanks snazzlefrag, you bet thats great news. Still waiting on my degree plan from Excelsior, but with Math CLEP c/w, hoping all I have left is WER, Info Lit, and 7 Upper Level Lib Arts courses.
Wahoo!

That will be fantastic if that's all you need. A quick hop, skip, and a jump, and you will have your degree.
Good luck,

Ok so I will pose this question. Which one is easier College Math or Algebra. Keep in mind I just need ONE of these to get my BSLA degree.
