Math Ed
#1
I don't know if this is a good place to ask, but I'll try anywaysSmile
I'm in the middle of getting a math degree, with the probable goal of math Ed. I also want to leave a window open to data analysis. How do I know which math electives to take? I know that I am asking people who have no idea who I am :Smile but I'm trying to figure out where to begin. Does anyone have any idea as to what courses I might want to be looking in to? For example - does discreet math help me?

go here
http://www.citytech.cuny.edu/mathematics...19-bs.aspx

click on the tab that says "Sample Course of Study"

you can click on the course numbers to see the description

also here
https://www.esc.edu/degrees-programs/und...12-july-1/

the first part tells you what you need for general foundations
General Foundation for All Concentrations

next tells what you need if you wnat to focus in math and maybe math grad school
Core for Concentration in Mathematics

next tells what you need for applied math (data analysis)
Core for Concentration in Applied Mathematics

this is a really great video on math classes, what they teach and what they're useful for
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anQJbA9vQno

here you can see the math requirements at WGU for teaching math to middle school children
https://www.wgu.edu/online-teaching-degr...ogram.html

and here for high school children
https://www.wgu.edu/online-teaching-degr...ogram.html

if you want to do data analysis then at a minimum
Calculus 1
Calculus 2
Discrete Math
Linear Algebra
Probability
Statistics
