Newbie...back to school after 20 years....been testing out of everything possible. I am totally terrified of math. I got the REA College Math book and online test to study, but it feels like its in another language to me....I am just not getting it. I really don't want to suffer for 12 weeks in a math class so I have to find a way to test out....DSST is offering a new Math exam....think it will be any easier than the CLEP....what about the Business Math. I have only taken 1 DSST and I found it much easier than the CLEP's......help!!!!!!!!!!!

Well you could do Math from Straighterline or Study.com (if you are planning to use a partner school or one that takes ACE credits) as well as ALEKs. From what has been shared here recently their ACE accreditation has been renewed and they are very inexpensive.
I have not heard much about the newer DSST test, but they are generally more difficult than CLEP - but that just may be the upper level ones.

I do NOT recommend the Business Math DSST. It is just the worst. ALEKS is really the best way to go if your college accepts it, but you'd have to hurry. It keeps getting extended, but as of right now it expires at the end of February. Khan Academy is great for some practice

ALEKS!!!! By far the quickest/easiest route to go. The best part about ALEKS is you can log out of your assessment and work on 1 question at a time if you need too.

A computer based tool created by McGray Hill for math. It's $20 a month and it's "courses" are approved for credit by ACE.
It's interface is a little odd, as it covers many levels of math from k-12 to college. If your school of choice accepts it, by far the cheapest way to 6+ math credits

I enrolled at TESU and took Mathematics for Liberal Arts as a course, it looks very similar to the new DSST exam. Honestly, the thing about the class (yes, it was 12 weeks) was that I was being graded on homework each week - homework that I could work on slowly (or faster) as needed, and there was no big risk of failure. In short, it was almost a guaranteed pass. I would say it didn't take more than an hour or two out of my entire week (obviously that wasn't the only thing I did during those 12 weeks). So, though I tested out of a ton of courses, I found this credit easier to take as a class. (PS I've never taken algebra, not even in high school, and this class was totally doable)

I took the Applied Liberal Arts Math TECEP, after finishing ALEKS' Intermediate Algebra, and I thought it was very easy. I got a 90% on it, and that's by far my highest test score I've gotten on anything.

AFTER I took the class, I would have been brave enough to do the TECEP, but not before, I was too chicken.

I have just enrolled into ALEKS for int algebra, my question is: will I have to appear for assessment test once again to get the credits after completing the pie chart?
