I'm trying to jump through the bureaucracy and get my tuition assistance approved by next Friday. I would have ran the paper work earlier, but I didn't know I'd have the time to take a class until about a week ago. Since then I've signed up for the course, bought the books, and started my homework assignments. At first I was going to drop the course if the tuition assistance couldn't go through. Thanks to my wife, I have since changed my mind.
Should I fail to get funding from the Navy, I'm just going to take out a loan to pay for the course. I need 4 four classes to complete my Master's, so I have to sneak them in when I can. I realized that this highlights the difference between those of us who achieve our academic dreams in the military, and those who continue dreaming.
Commitment.
I'm willing to pay out of pocket for my own class rather than let the opportunity pass me by on taking it.
So here's to all of us that have earned our degrees or those still working on it.
If it was that easy, everyone else in the military would be doing it too.
