Not surprised. Apparently, many of the patients have had no known contact with another monkeypox patient. That points to a lot of airborne transmission.

It's supposedly not as contagious, but where have we heard that before? At least there is an existing vaccine for this one. Older forum members may already be immune!

Last I read, the "vaccine" was to get the ChickenPox or Shingles vaccines and "modify" them... I think it's still a race to get the correct one, they're using a band-aid method and hoping it to work...

In the US and UK the vaccine being used for monkeypox is the smallpox vaccine. Both viruses are in the same family so the smallpox vaccine works against monkeypox.

Jynneos Smallpox Vaccine
Jynneos is the current smallpox vaccine approved for use. They have less than 10 million total doses, so we will hit a vaccine wall soon.

ACAM2000 Smallpox Vaccine
They have 100 million doses of ACAM2000, the smallpox vaccine, enough for 50 million people. The problem is this vaccine has serious side effects.

Experience suggests that it will get worse before it gets better.
