Hello from a newbie here
#1
I am finally going to get my degree. I have raised six daughters, who all went to college so it ismy turn. I started on mine a long time ago and have taken courses over the years. I have about 88 credits so far. But I need my stats(which I have put off thesemany years) to even get my assoc! so I am taking it from straighterline. It will take longer than i thought but will have to keep trying. I just found this forum and love it, just reading the messages gives me hope that i can do it.
Thanks to all of you.
I will try to do a clep test also, wish they had more advanced ones so I can finish sooner.
I would like some feedback on the stats test- might do that instead of finishing with what I am doing, might be faster.
Question for anyone how much in advance do you have to get someone to proctor the test you take? do I have to plan two months out? thanks for listening. Jane in CT

While CLEP doesn't give upper level credit, DSST has several tests that are approved for UL credits. So there's always that option.

I can't comment on the stats test itself. But I can mention a cheaper alternative to both SL & DSST, and that's ALEKs. If you're a good self-starter and aren't afraid to use supplemental materials, you can get Stats done fairly quickly if your school accepts ACE credit. (When I say fairly quickly, I mean anywhere from 15-100 hours of work, depending on your knowledge level of the subject and adaptability.)

I think the SL stuff is all done online, without a proctor. And CLEPs & DSSTs for the most part are offered via computer, so often its showing up at the test site and going for it. There are some test sites that still use the paper version of the test (often in the more rural places, and some military settings).
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

First off, welcome to the forum! This place has greatly helped me with getting my degree and I hope it does the same for you too.

I did ALEKS statistics and it was pretty good. Took me about 40 hours to reach the 70% needed for credit, but it will probably be quicker for you since you have already started a statistics course.

I have an awesome proctor for CLEPs and DSSTs. I can call a day ahead of time to let them know I'm coming. I do have to schedule almost two months in advance for ECEs though. So you need to figure out where you are going to proctor and ask them how far in advance you need to schedule. If you don't already have a testing center in mind, you can see what your options are here.

Just out of curiosity, what school are you going to and what are you getting your degree in? Maybe we can tell you what tests are available in your area of study.

Also, you have probably already done this, but be sure you know your college's policy on accepting CLEPs, DSSTs, ace recommended courses, and maybe ECEs if they have any tests you could use.
