Need Help With Associates Degree
#1
Hello everyone! I'm in the process of finishing my English degree for which most of the top credits are for. I originally left that degree program thinking Charter Oak would be faster (and it was) with the intention to return later. I have an AS in General Studies from the school, the only AS they had at the time. They've since expanded some options, but none of them are of interest to me. Im looking to complete an AS or AA in either Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, or Business- at a very reasonable cost that won't take up too much considerable time.  Employers are having trouble knowing what to make of the AS in General Studies. It doesn't seem like they get what it means. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm including my credits below. Thank you, in advance, for your time and consideration.

I would focus on a bachelor's degree instead an associate degree especially since you already have an associate degree. You won't gain anything from an additional associate degree.

I will graduate with my English degree in December, but I do still want an associates degree more closely related to what I actually studied.

You stated 'Employers are having trouble knowing what to make of the AS in General Studies' - why do you include your 'AS in General Studies' at all on your resume if you have a BS in Psychology? The AS in General Studies is easily explained as the general education courses needed as the first steps towards any bachelor degree; it adds no value to a resume.  Plus you're a grad student now - which I assume you reflect on your resume.  What sort of employer would put any focus on any associate degree of a person currently pursuing a graduate degree?

They don't even look at at associate degree once you have a bachelor's degree. If you're working on a grad degree that's what employers are looking at. They won't care about an associate degree. Associate degrees aren't really that useful in the liberal arts. It's one thing to have an associate degree in Construction Management. That means something because it's a trade.

Literally every employer in China cares. I'm in China. In China, we use CVs. They require all data of jobs and education. If someone could give me some program recommendations, that'd be awesome. I'm also in the public eye and people ask questions. They also want and are allowed legally to have access to that public data. Regardless, I'd like a second associates.

If they don't understand "General Studies", are they really going to understand "Liberal Arts"? They're exactly the same thing. It's just different names used by different schools.

General Studies is not a subject of study in China, so no. Humanities, liberal arts, and business are.

It doesn't help I joined Charter Oak before they had degrees in subjects of study. I graduated with a BS in General Studies with an emphasis in Psychology. I'd like an AS to separate from that. I get that people would prefer I focus on finishing my BA and I will, but I've literally watched people on this thread for 12 years and going to TESC/now TESU and taking advantage of the credits to get 2 ASs and 2 BAs/BSs. I don't think it's that uncommon to want a second associates degree, particularly in something more enjoyable and something that more adequately reflects your study.

In that case, I would just explain that it's a liberal arts degree.

The only reason why students at TESU even bother to get Associate degrees is that those degrees are "free" if you graduate with a Bachelor's degree at the same time. It's just ridiculously expensive, in general, to get an Associate's degree on its own. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/As...7s_Degrees

Bummer. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case or that I could use prior learning to reduce the cost.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!
