Tor CC has added new NCCRS approves options, here's the list they emailed out (I think they added Info Lit to the list because it was upgraded from 2 to 3 cr recently)...

These are great alternatives, especially for the discounted price...
They have 3 packs, which means, you take 3 courses and each course credit is $50/credit.
So, for 9 credits at $450, it's less than 1 credit at one of the Big 3.
Note: I would use them for harder to find courses, like the Science/Sociology ones

I haven't taken a course from them yet, but when I researched them a bit, I recall they use ProctorU for exams.
The fee includes everything you need such as materials and study guides, the only few courses that have extra fees are history courses.

It's exceptional value for UL Psychology or Sociology courses (if the big 3 transfer them in that way). The extras for history are $6-$12.
I was reading earlier that a forum member could take these with an in-person proctor as there were no scheduled online exams ready.

If this was ACE, I don't think that was an option, but for NCCRS they allow an in-person proctor as an option if it's really difficult for online testing.
Many use this as an option to get the pricing down cheaper, for example, get a proctor to charge less for more exams you're taking at one sitting.

Yes, they do allow in-person proctoring at a local community college or local library. Otherwise, ProctorU

Thank you both Smile

I'm still wondering about an exam itself, not really cost/proctor

hilarious I was left wondering that myself after reading those two posts. I think jsd has yet to take his proctored test, so that's why he couldn't tell you right now.

Yeah, I was just responding to bjcheung77's point, I know it doesn't help you much.

Looks like my test will be on the 13th, so I'll have some more info for you then.

The study guide was essentially "read this textbook cover to cover, but we've broke it down to eight units." So it's a bit much. They included quiz questions taken straight from the publisher's companion site to study, and a powerpoint with audio that goes over some keypoints, also from the publisher. The PowerPoint doesn't help much with the quizzes, those answer are found deeper within text.

No idea how the exams will line up with quizzes or material yet, but I'll let you all know Smile

I've seen threads about the old 2cr info lit course being super easy, but they've changed that course as of last month. Someone else did a history course and reviewed it here and I recall it being a good experience for them, I believe. I can track it down tomorrow of no one else does before me.

TLDR - In short, I would assume it's similar to a Saylor Academy course & ProctorU exam. You're provided study materials and it's up to you to study.
Think of the worst and prepare like you would a TECEP, as everything is on that final; on the other hand, it could be as easy as a Straighterline course.
I recommend creating your own study notes to remember what you have learned and for using a flashcard system similar to IC where you create your own flashcards and use it for memory recollection (free online option such as Quizlet?).

By skimming through what was in these two threads, I would give it a go actually, as it didn't stop the user from getting a good grade & pass.
Furthermore, I think the forum "guinea pig" who actually took the course, took their time to create their own study materials to practice.

Original thread: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...n-any.html

Side Note: Not to scare you or anything, but... "Minor Noble" who did a quick run through of the TCC courses they've taken might be a shill.

The only other post from that user brings up another post in regards to TCC with a somewhat short & stellar review.

Strangely, last but not least, another 1 post wonder also recommended TCC for English Composition I.

Thanks everyone!

I still have 4 UL psych/sos courses needed, and I'm trying to decided how to best knock them out.

I thought this was interesting http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...post193632 ... certainly doesn't sound easy. Although I guess she's still glad she took it http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...stern.html .
