Hi there :patriot:
My brother has several technical degrees from a local community college and is currently working as a police officer. He only has three classes left to take at the community college to get his Associate's degree, and since he is currently working a few 12 hour shifts for two separate emergency response companies (as a paramedic) in addition to being a full-time police officer, I thought I, with your help, could find a way for him to skip a couple of those classes if not all.
Here are the courses he needs:
1. PSY 1513 General Psychology (3 credits)
2. Elective - Fine Arts/Humanities (3 credits)
3. SPT 1113 - Public Speaking I (3 credits)
Initial Plan
1. PSY 1513 General Psychology ---> I think I can take CLEP Introductory Psychology (

2. Elective - Fine Arts/Humanities --> Maybe this CLEP General Humanities but can anyone recommend any easier (less broad) tests that would be faster for him to study for? (
https://clep.collegeboard.org/exam/humanities)
3. SPT 1113 - Public Speaking I --> Principles of Public Speaking DSST (
Principles of Public Speaking DSST Study Guide - Free-Clep-Prep.com)
Thanks everyone! Once I have a list of some options, I'll contact the college and ask if they'd accept them.

Hi jsd,
I've confirmed that the junior college not only accepts CLEP and DSST credit but they will proctor the exams for enrolled students.

I believe the humanities exam would be the hardest of the humanities options, but he could look at the contents and see if it's doable for him. If he can use it, the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature would be the easiest humanities that I can think of.

You're going to HATE this answer. It depends. Does he know another language? Test out of it (CLEP). Is he interested in religion, specifically comparative religions? (DSST) (That was an easy one for me.) Does he like to read? I think Analyzing and Interpreting Literature might be a Humanities course.
Good luck. In addition to checking out whether the college accepts test out credits, check and see if they accept the exams your brother is considering, and where they'd put them.

Thanks for the tip, cookderosa!

He's had pretty intense Catholic education and was raised in a very religious household where religious topics were discussed all the time.... the comparative religions idea is a great one. I'll list that as an option for him to check with the JC about.
He'll check the specifics of the exams once I've supplied him with a road-map of the options he has for each required class.
Thank you both! :-)

Hi KavY, I highly doubt it but it's possible. He'd rather stick with DSST or CLEP though.
