I stopped studying three years ago. I started a business.
I have tax documents, a website, products I designed, and make. Customer reviews, machinery, programming knowledge, acquisition of raw materials, and etc. I have customers throughout the world, and sell in a variety of ways.
I learned web design, SEO, HTML, CSS, advertising, eCommerce, pricing, local and global markets, how to analyze statistics for customers, and so forth.
There is good profitability, and it's increasing. This isn't a minimum wage venture but isn't big bucks at this time...
The immense nature of the effort (I've learned so much) and experience (I've been burned, and learned) is worth.. I hope???
What can I get for this from one of the Big Three? I have 75 credits right now in a mix of CLEP and etc.
I hope I can get something here. I've learned a ton from this, and I have a working business. I am involved on many levels since I'm working with automated machinery, raw materials, and then the whole rest of the lot..
In the end. What's your thought on PLA? Has anybody here been awarded credit before from it?

The main trick for PLA in your situation is finding equivalent college courses whose learning outcomes match your knowledge. You then write a narrative that demonstrates that you have equivalent knowledge to these outcomes from your experience. You can search databases of completed PLA course titles at TESC and Learning Counts. If you don't find a course match here you can look for courses that exist a other colleges. This is the basic gist of the process. I did this for a TESC PLA in Music Theatre and self proposed PLA in Chorale Arranging which I found at Western Wisconsin U. Until you actually enroll in some program you will not get any advising on this issue. Perhaps others will chime in here with specific course equivalencies for your particular experience. My gut guess here is that you have at least 12 credits and perhaps as many as 24 buried in your experience if you can find the specific courses to narrate. From my experience its all in the course title and description. If you see course titles with descriptions and you can say to yourself, "I know what this is all about", you have probably found your PLAs. But you still have to make sure that the courses fit your degree program. I think your best bet here may be to look at BSBAs in Entrepreneurship. You might then propose this as a Learner Designated Area of Study (LDAS) at TESC.

You mention that you have, "been burned and learned". Some of the best comments I got from a reviewer of my PLA at COSC concerned the comparison between the first few articles I had published (which were definitely at a beginner level) and my later work which was much more professional. When you do your narrative its all about when where and how you learned. If you have never done a PLA before, take the free Kaplan course in documenting your learning for college credit. By the time you finish, you should have most of your first PLA done, and you can get credit for merely doing the course through ACE.

I am curious what credit you get from ACE.
Are you saying that the free Kaplan course (Documenting your learning for college credit) is ACE certified and will transfer to TESC and/or COSC? How many credits? Also what category would it transcribe into? Free Elective?
Thanks for clarifying.

Yes, free elective for 3 credits, at least at COSC.

Thanks everyone for the input!
I am excited with all of this since I think I can startup my degree.
Right now I'm working (abet slowly) Kaplan's PLA100 course and will then go from there.
I'm surmising I'll enroll into Thomas Edison, or at least send my transcripts in, see what they'll take, and if it's good enough then finally enroll then work on more PLA.
All my CLEP, DSST, and what not was tailored to Excelsior but I think Thomas Edison will take pretty much everything. They seem to be a bit better priced, cheaper enrollment, and really push the PLA rather well plus have the BSBA I should go for!
Ah this is great. Now to continue on, and hopefully post here someday saying I'm finished!

The Kaplan PLA has been evaluated by ACE and will transfer in to TESC in substitution for PLA 100 and PLA 200. This will fulfill the Practical Skills requirement.
"Marc Singer, the vice provost for the Center for the Assessment of Learning , confirmed that the Kaplan PLA course will be accepted in substitution for PLA-100 and PLA-200. He also confirmed with the registrar that the course counts as gen ed and intellectual and practical skills. "If an advisor tells you it is just a free elective, then he or she is misinformed. You should probably contact the registrar if the course has been evaluated differently."
