Out of all the schools I applied to, WGU was the pickiest about receiving ALL transcripts before doing an evaluation or telling you that you qualify for a program. I applied for the health informatics program. They not only wanted all college transcripts, but they required my ACE transcript and CLEP/DSST scores. They told me that if I didn't want to send them, then I would need to request an exception. They also didn't care that I was never an enrolled student at Empire State College or CSU Global. When they saw those schools on my TESU transcript, they required transcripts from those schools.

Toastmaster Wrote:Sooooo, I owe my Community College roughly $1,000 to release my transcript s.....so I was crunching some numbers last night and saw that it would be vastly cheaper (70%) to just retake all of my classes via Straighterline,CLEP, and Study.com and transfer those credits into my degree instead.
Fast forward: when Grad schools (particularly WGU) request trancripts from ALL schools, exactly how serious are they about that???
I'd rather just send TESU's
You owe your CC $1000 but it would cost $300 to take these credits through alternative sources? Is that right?
If so, you're talking about paying either $1000 or $300 - a difference of $700.
That $700 savings is going to make your life hell. You're going to have to break laws, get creative, lie, create work-arounds, and potentially have a degree revoked from you in the future. I have no idea about your financial situation, and I get that $700 is a lot, but you're talking to a woman that paid for 100% of my AA by saving coins in a jar - so from where I'm standing, you just need to hustle here. If you have no money, then it's even MORE important to get this debt cleared up before trying to spend more money on MORE tuition.
If you were my son: Pick 5 things, put them on Craigslist today. (not later, right now!) Call your job and ask for another shift this week and another shift next. If that's not an option, go down the street to Spirit Halloween. They will hire you on the spot to be a sign holder at $8/hour. Do this when you're not at your regular job. Hustle and grind for 30 days. You'll be suprised. You might not hit $1000 but you can take that money and start your alternative testing (you said $300 was all that was needed) while you consistently save to pay off your CC. You can do this in 60 days.
Here's some inspiration- 3 weeks ago my 12th grader wanted to buy a Ninja Motorcycle. He had $3000 saved and came to me. (The bike cost $3000) I told him he could buy it if he handed me $750 cash in an envelope that I could hold for insurance, tax, license, and repairs in my safe. He handed me $750 and went to work. He started selling, working, flipping, and busting it- he recovered that $750 in 8 days and bought the bike. Regardless of what you think of motorcycles, the bottom line is you just have to push.
