Hi,
Has anyone here tried the Pesi Throwback ( made with sugar , rather then High
Fructose Corn Syrup - HFCS) ?
This is the formula from the 60's & 70's. It is available for only a limited time.
I just tried some and I had my 15 year old try it too.
It is definitely the Pepsi I had as a kid.
It still takes some getting use to as HFCS has been used for so long in soda.
My sons comment was it tastes like flat soda.
I will agree that it seems to be much less carbonated.
They also are selling throwback Mountian Dew. I did not buy that one though.

Ninety-Nine percent of the time I drink Green Tea but on the occasion I buy soft drinks I always look for stuff flavored with cane sugar. I cannot stand the taste of HFCS plus cane sugar is better for you in comparison to HFCS. If you are interested in buying Coke with cane sugar Sam's (at least where I live) has it by the case. It's Mexican Coke and it's awesome.

When I headed out to the store I was in search of Zevia (
ZEVIA Frequently Asked Questions ), the only soda I have read of that is made with Stevia, unfortunately they were out of it, so I picked up the Pepsi Throwback.
One of my issues with HFCS is the fact that corn is now so genetically engineered.

I haven't thoroughly researched the issue but my understanding was that your body metabolizes cane sugar easier than it does HFCS meaning less of it is placed into fat storage. Neither of them are good in large quantities but I'm positive I read that somewhere. Once you get used to the cane sugar again and then drink something with HFCS you will never want anything with HFCS again. It just tastes nasty.

I have been drinking diet pepsi for years, I said regular tasted to sweet. I didn't know I was drinking throwback at first, my husband bought it and it taste less sweet to me. They say diet is not good for you so I would rather drink the throwback when I have a soda.

That makes sense as HFCS is not a natural product, rather it is one that is highly processed. Even the FDA says it is not natural.
