I am a teacher but I will lose my existing job if I do not pass the Foundation of Education DANTES. I am using the Rudman's Questions. I dont feel prepared and if you fail u cant take again until 6 months. I need to pass it before next week friday. Can anyone help? offer any suggestions? what should i read?
This is the last class i need for cert and I have no time to take it, i took the others this summer. This class can be done in a test, i thought it would be easy. doesnt seem so now
Has anyone already passed this test?

Hi there!
Most people who have posted in the Exam Specific thread and passed seem to have used either solely IC, or IC and Wikipedia. The general consensus is that the IC Flashcards will get you there.
If you're a subscriber, you can find the flashcards here:
Foundations of Education Flashcards
If you're not a subscriber, I'd seriously consider it. That's one heck of an ultimatum that they've laid down. Pass a DANTES or get fired?!?
Edit: Grammar is my friend

I'll second that recommendation - the $20 investment in an InstantCert membership is worthwhile if this is a pass-or-be-terminated situation. As a subscriber, you'll also have access to the aforementioned Specific Exam Feedback and can see what topics have shown up on the exam recently.
The exam, as I recall it, covers both educational theories and the history of American education. Be aware of the major court cases and legislation, and understand the role of federal, state, and local legislation and educational boards. I don't think there was anything more recent than NCLB on the exam. Know your theories - Dewey and Piaget and the like. As a current teacher, you should already know how the hierarchy works within a school and school district (in terms of budgets and decision making, and administrative implementation vs policy making) and something about the two unions.
I managed a good score on this exam using just IC plus a little Wikipedia followup - despite having zero background as an educator. You should pass easily!

My husband took this exam cold. He needed one class to graduate. Aced it, if you're a teacher I would imagine you should not have any trouble.

If you have an educational background you should not have a problem, however to increase your chances in passing I would recommend the “American Education” by Joel Spring. I was a able to borrow a copy from the Public Library, it helped me pass the exam along with using IC. - Good Luck you will do well!

I just passed it today, but it was a little different that I thought. I scored a 46. If you use InstantCert you will be fine.

Hi,
I'm a college instructor and I took this exam a couple of months ago. It wasn't a bad exam at all. I just used IC, the specific exam feedback here and Wiki for things not covered. Don't worry about filling in the blanks on the flashcards. I don't use them that way and I have passed all my exams, usually without books. I just click on the flashcard, then click submit without trying to enter anything then I read through the question filling in the blank with the correct answer then I read the additional info below. I make sure I read through both items usually twice, unless it is some concept I already know. Then I move on to the next card. I realized early on that it was too time consuming and distracting to fill in the blank. I have never done the flashcards more than once, but many here do run through them several times. If I have a concept I don't understand I might go back and review it as I move along and find something related that I still don't understand. I find this method much easier and less frustrating than trying to fill in the blanks. Usually my answer was the same but worded different so I would get it wrong anyway! Try this method and see if it helps. It just make them study material instead of quizzes. It really isn't a difficult exam.
Good Luck!
