Professor loves AI.

So, this is not a complaint but incredibly comical given TESU policy for students. I have noticed the borderline robotic responses on the forums of one my my classes from the professors. Things like repeated specific facts back into the content, common phrases, etc. I ran many of their responses through the copy leaks AI detector. I use it for my own work across many platforms because even through I don't use AI to write and only to research, I am paranoid about getting flagged. Every one of their responses comes back 100% AI.

Im not calling out anything or anyone since I am just here to get my grade an move on but thought it was ironic at best that they would use it that heavily. This is the problem I see with AI assistants in the world, over reliance. Just curious if anyone else has seen this type of use out there in the wild?

By comparison, my other professors have a specific human flare to their writing. Even the use of emojis which is rare from AI unless you tell it to.

AI detectors are the technology equivalent to astrology. Their reports have so many false positives that they don't mean anything.

I'm not saying you're wrong about your mentors using AI, only that this isn't evidence for it.

CopyLeaks isn't great. It's used at the university I'm currently enrolled in. Most of my papers come back saying I plagiarized my own name. Not every paper. Makes no sense. It also completely ignores citations and flags them as plagiarism all the time. I won't miss CopyLeaks when I graduate.

I most definitely do not disagree with you on the level of false positive. But they are coming back as 100% AI, every time. This post is less about the mentors use of it and more my curiosity if other students are seeing an increase of this type of engagement.

It is considered sufficient evidence when used against a student.

Is it? Because given that they demonstrably don't work, that would be the fastest lawsuit in the world. At orientation at TESU they even effectively told us, "We may use one of those, but we only look at the plagiarism score and not the AI score because we know the latter doesn't mean anything."

The University’s Academic Code of Conduct will apply to cases of undocumented and/or inappropriate use of AI generated content. Submission of AI generated work for written assignments as a replacement for original student work will be considered plagiarism under this policy. Mentors may use a University approved AI detection tool to evaluate the authenticity of submitted assignments.
