Question about UL credts at TESC
#1
I'm about 95% sure I'm reading this right, but only 18 credits (in the concentration) need to be 300 or 400 level. Is that how you all understand it?

Example: (just above the bottom and above "Free Electives") Thomas Edison State College: Computer Science

Thanks

100% correct. Smile
AA Liberal Studies, Thomas Edison State College-Dec. 2012
BA Liberal Studies, Thomas Edison State College-Sept. 2013
16 CLEPs, 6 DSSTs, 12 FEMAs, and a handful of B&M lab science courses
120/120 credits DONE :hurray:

And if your concentration requires a Capstone, that's one of the 18!

Does anyone know if they will apply any PLA credits to UL credits?

They tend to handle all credits the same regardless of the source. In the case of a PLA from another school, as long as it is accredited it should transfer the same as that course would with a letter grade. I brought over two PLA's from my CC and they gave UL credit for one and LL credit for the other just as if they were the normal course.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Of course your PLA credits must meet TESC transfer equivelent course degree requirements. This would be the only "sticky" issue that I could guess.

Thanks Johnny and Cooper, I am planning to use the PLA program through LearningCounts. I haven't spoken with anyone at TESC about this yet but I am really hoping to knock out some UL credits through PLA.

BTW, sorry if I'm coming across as hijacking this thread. Not intended.

That's probably a little less predictable since it isn't a set number of courses at another college. They have TESC listed so I guess it is worth a shot, just don't wait until the end to do the PLA's if you are using that company.

It's all good as long as you get the info you need. Smile
