A&I Lit was my first CLEP, and I didn't study for it. If you can read quickly with fairly good comprehension this test should be an easy pass. I read about poetry terms that others have had on their tests, but my test (and I took is only last month) didn't have but maybe one or two questions about that. Maybe. Some folks have also mentioned that there isn't enough time, but I had 15-20 minutes to spare. I wish every test was this easy!

Though I agree that this test is among the easier exams, I wouldn't go in cold. Brush up on your literary terms and take a few practice tests. Provided that goes well, you should be ready to cream A&I Lit.

I decided to use the REA book for this one and was glad I did. I read voraciously but would not have been prepared if I had gone in cold. This is because I hate reading something to analyze -- I'd rather read for pleasure.
You can sometimes find this book at your public library and save some money. It did prepare me a little for poems and more old English writings, which frankly I don't like either, but being a little prepared and having read their analyses for these I felt like I could pick out something similar for an answer. Ultimately, it depends on your background with this one.

Use REA. If you already have the Humanities study guide just flip to the Lit review section and study that. The REA A&IL review book is word for word what is in the REA Humanities review. I took this test this morning and made a 70. It's really not very difficult, just be able to read quickly. If you do your practice tests under clock you'll be ready.
