Scholarships for Grad Students?
#1
Hey everyone,
Just received my official acceptance to University of Mount Olive where I will be pursuing my MBA:p
Classes start 5/9. yay!

Anywho, I was wondering how common it was for schools to offer scholarships to grad students. Just curious and exploring financing options.
I am waiting for my financial aid advisor to respond to my request for info (sent her an email early last week, was not yet accepted)

Thanks for your help!

Congrats on being accepted into the MBA program! There are definitely scholarships available for graduate programs. Your university's financial aid department should be able to help you identify and apply for these scholarships. Does your university have a centralized website to apply for scholarships?

Thanks!

The site only refers to outside scholarships but note that institutional need/merit based grants/scholarships are available. Interestingly, Upon doing some research it looks like about 50(+,-)% of students receive institutional aid and about 60% receiving student loans. ....still researching

I also wonder why we say "receiving student loans" and consider it some form of financial aid. It's not Sad

To the OP however, there may be state level grants as well (granted it normally for in state students)

Right! Also, this is in state for me and I am hoping to get at least a merit based scholarship since I graduated Magna Cum Laude 😇

For full-time programs, they are very common. (I received a ~60% scholarship for my MBA) Every reputable doctoral business program is fully funded. For part-time/online programs, scholarships are far less common.

What about scholarships for 100% online MBAs? Are they frequent?

This is what I am inquiring about. The school I will be pursuing my degree with is actually a traditional B&M with a 100% online option; they usually offer some form of gift aid to mostly ungrad students. Getting information about graduate scholarships/grants has been like pulling teeth (so far). I am still waiting to hear back from them.....

I received a $5000 scholarship towards my MS. It wasn't a ton of money but it helped! Sometimes you just have to look at each individual school and see what scholarships they have available.
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.
