When people are trying to get proper enrollment information for a college where money is going to be paid to that college for a service, better "customer service" should be given. It shouldn't take a week, or several weeks, for a proper response. There should be more than ONE person who can answer basic questions about the program such as where prerequisites are accepted from. After reviewing all of the Dietetics degree programs available online, U of Alabama is really the ONLY one I can enroll into as the others are for people already working in the field or where internships have to be completed within the schools state or you already have to have an Associates in Dietetics, which I do not have.
Kaplan does have bachelors in nutrition science, but the program is 67k$!! And it "Kaplan University’s Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science program is not accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE). While the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science program is designed to academically prepare students to pursue a variety of nutrition-oriented careers and advanced education, the program does not lead directly to certification as a registered dietitian" That is insane to pay that kind of money for a degree in nutrition that doesnt even allow you to take the RD exam after graduation. U of Alabamas online Dietetic program is around 27K for the degree which after graduation you can sit for exam to become registered dietetican.
I may just enroll into Rio Salado or Ocean County to get some sciences done for right now. I don't think I will be hearing from anyone at UofA before the end of enrollment period for classes that start in Jan
Years back I looked into this for work- my background is as a chef, and I teach culinary arts. We were starting a highschool nutrition option and we were going to send one of our teachers over, but you had to be an RD. So, I looked into getting the RD credential. If I remember, there was a Texas program that was online or mostly so- and I think it had didactic int he title. The internship could be done anywhere (with approval) I belive it was for a second bachelor's degree holder. I bring this up because it can -literally- sometimes be easier to get a BA in liberal arts through a school like TESC to use the accelerated BA track options some schools offer. For instance, it may only take 5-6 months to earn a BA at TESC. With that, you could use the alternate routes.
Also, don't attend any program that's not CADE, waste of money. Even grocery stores require RD now lol.
Anyway, just another thing to consider! Good luck!
