Seminary-Icing on the Cake
#1
Hello I am currently in a certificate program at a seminary within a mainline Protestant system.  I will be ordained, get benefits, full rights... however it's not an M Div.  I want an M Div!  So I'm going to transfer those credits to Nations University and grab an MDiv.  Again I don't need this for my denomination, I just want it for myself and the price is right!  After that I've thought about a cost effective doctorate.  Looking at SATS of course but also Bethany Divinity in Dothan Alabama.  I am aware of their accredidation status but the doctorate would be for personal development and what not.  Thoughts on this plan?

It seems like you've already thought it through. You don't care if a seminary claims fake accreditation. I can only tell you what I wouldn't do. I wouldn't waste time or $6,200 on a doctorate I can't use for anything, and I definitely would not attend an unaccredited school that claims to be accredited by dubious organizations. That can mislead students who don't understand how accreditation works. I have more respect for schools that will straight up say, "We choose to remain unaccredited."

I hear what you are saying.  No accredidation is better then what they are doing.  So do you have other suggestions?  It seems like SATS has it's issues as well.  Luther Rice does not offer a doctorate and Liberty's pricing model is confusing.

Liberty charges $395 per credit hour if you're enrolled in less than 7 credits per term, they charge a flat rate of $2,750 if you're in enrolled in 7 - 15 credit hours in a term, and they charge an extra $395 per credit for every credit above 15. In other words, you pay $395 per credit hour if you attend part-time, and you pay $2,750 flat if you attend full-time and don't go over 15 credit hours.

They have a Doctor of Ministry.  30 hours, $377/hour.  I used to play music with a guy who earned his doctorate from Luther Rice.

Thanks.  I like LR.  I can't see the doctorate listed on their site but I'll reach out to them.

Look under seminary programs, not graduate programs.
