New to the forum and 2 tests down
#1
Hello everyone, I love the website and information here! Everyone seems so nice and helpful.

I am a 28 year old non-traditional college student chasing my dream of a flying position in the Air Force. I am age critical which is why I am on the fast track to my degree. I am currently at 48 credits and hoping to get to 90 by the end of the summer.

As for the two tests I have taken. Introduction to Sociology CLEP and College Algebra. I did no studying on either test, the first because I was taking a class that touched on Sociology in a couple of the chapters. I didn't get to study for College Algebra because I signed up for College Mathematics but when I got to the testing center they informed me my school does not accept credit for College Mathematics and they had me take College Algebra. I did just finish a remedial Algebra class but I didn't think I could possibly pass College Algebra.. and I didnt even realize you could use a calculator! I barely passed and wrote all of the problems out by hand.

So don't be discouraged or intimidated by either of those tests, with a bit of studying they can be passed. Tomorrow I am taking Introductory Business Law and early next month I'm signed up for Microeconomics (I am an economics nerd) and this board has given me the confidence to take on the Biology CLEP as well.

On January 20th I leave for my Air Force basic training and from what I hear the CLEP tests are free in the military. So from the end of March to early May they will know me by name in the testing center (if time allows during my tech school)

I just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you for the information.

I really appreciate the replies!

DetroitSki: Thank You for the kind words, I haven't started my service yet but I am certainly looking forward to it.

Cookderosa: I made it by the skin of my teeth, an exact 50 on it but a pass is a pass. That experience gave me the confidence to try other CLEP tests.

tharkins: I hope things turn around for you, I'm not sure if I'll pursue a pilot position, the Air Force have Navigators who basically mission plan and plot out the coordinates.. I think that appeals to me but I would be honored to serve in any capacity.
