I bounce around quite a bit on what I want to be when I grow up. That is a joke because I am old. However, due to COVID and family issues I have to keep working.
I decided I was going to do the additional 7 courses at WGU to get my MBA, as that is what would look nice on my resume right now. It has to be CBE, as I’m never going back to traditional learning.
I had wanted to do my DBA at South College, but I don’t have the time to commit. However I looked at the Executive MBA at South and it’s interesting. Much more interesting courses. At WGU they are run of the mill MBA courses. I don’t need in the weeds type of learning. I’ve been an exec for a hundred years.
I did a forum search but didn’t find much other than some people had looked at it.
So, has anyone enrolled in it? Any feedback?
Thank you all!
Denise

I'm at South in the DBA. I looked at the Executive MBA and inquired a bit before deciding that it wasn't worth it. First;y, South doesn't take any tranfer credit into the degree program, which isn't a deal breaker. But similar to the DBA/EdD, they have locked all compentencies and the prior one must be completed prior to advancing to the next one with a 72 hour grading timeframe between them. What does this effectively mean? It means that the Executive MBA will take you at least 2 sessions to finish and since it costs $7,695 per term, that's like three times what WGU would cost.
In all honestly, quite a few students are upset with the direction they are moving with the DBA/EdD. However, since they are practically the only CBE Doctorate game in town, they will continue to get students until there is another alternative or competitor in that space.

If the OP wants an MBA cheap and reasonable, I would suggest the Program at Hellenic American University. Last I knew it was accredited and available online for under 5,000 USD.
If that isn't an option I would suggest the online Masters in Management from the Gies business school at UIUC. Relatively cheap, great name recognition from a public Ivy / Big 10 school and it stacks to the 70 hr MBA.

I looked at it and thought if I really grind it out I could do it in one term. Maybe I’m being too optimistic ???♀️. I REALLY like the courses there better than any other MBA program.

I really wanted to do this MBA, as the courses were sooooo much more interesting to me.
However, after reviewing this one, WGU (4 out of 11 were done as part of my MSML), and the latecomer California Coast University, I'm going with CCU. I only need this to put on my signature at work. I don't care if its RA/NA or whatever the newer accreditation is... just need the signature line.
1. It caps the tuition at 10K if something happens in life and I take longer than a year.
2. You can start with a graduate certificate program (4 courses) to see if you like it, and the transition into the MBA. The only downfall to that is that if you do it that way, you can't transfer in any credits from other schools. I wanted to transfer in Ethics and Leadership from WGU.
3. They have low monthly payments, but you do have to clear it out before they will confer your degree.
4. I could have probably done the 7 WGU courses in 6 months, but they are courses I loathe so I can really see it going into two terms and then I'd be at $10K as well.
5. I thought I could do the SC EMBA in 6 months, as I'm really interested in those courses, but there isn't enough feedback out there to take the chance. If I ended up going for two terms it was $14K.
I'll keep everyone updated after I finish the courses for the certificate. I can always transfer those to another MBA program if necessary.
