Special Assesment - COSC
#1
I hold a CT electrical license which required: 4000 hrs of apprenticeship, 6- 36hr classes in night school and passing an exam. I want to get credit for this but it is NOT in the ACE database.
Charter Oak offers something called “Special Assessment” in which is described here:

Charter Oak State College conducts Special Assessments of already completed state or national certifications or licensures to determine whether the subject matter, depth, breadth, and academic rigor of the licensing or certification examination is equivalent to college-level learning. Credentials of the following types, which have not been evaluated by the American Council on Education (ACE), National PONSI, or the Connecticut Credit Assessment Program (CCAP), may be submitted by currently matriculated Charter Oak students for review:

It only costs a flat $250 for this and it might yield a lot of credit but I have to matriculate to find out who will give me what which stinks. That’s why I’m trying to see if anyone here has experience and can shed some light on it for me.

Questions:

1) If I do “Special Assessment” and get 36 credits for my work will that transfer to TESC?
2) Will these credits likely cover free electives because I am looking for a BA (I’m already covered with FEMA)
3) As far as I can tell TESC is not set up for giving me credit for holding an electrical license. Am I wrong?

Thanks!

Brian

I am sure I read on the TESC Student Handbook , they give credit for some vocational certs and licenses.

But double check, but i do believe they will give you credit.
