Hello all, new to this. I have studied and completed 18 credits with clep in the past 3 weeks (Social sciences + history, humanities, and college composition modular). Just finished up composition this morning and now have a degree in engineering! i went to maine maritime academy for 3 years and needed these electives to get a diploma... My question is, is there any way to speed up the process of getting the official transcripts from CLEP to my School? I showed them the test results however they will not hand over my diploma to me until the official transcripts are in for these courses! i hear it can take up to like 3 weeks....
If anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to speed up this process in any way, it would be much appreciated. I will pay any amount of money or anything to somehow make it go faster!!! Or even drive down to the damn headquarters! a big job oppurtunity depends on it! Thanks -Brandon

When I called last week they said they had no other shipping speeds. I guess it doesn't hurt to call and ask again. Wouldn't be the first time someone gave me an answer without really knowing all of the facts.
I could have sworn they were faster last year. Did anyone else happen to notice? I faxed in the form on the 6th before the office opened, called the 11th and they were just getting to it for processing and it would be another 2-3 days before it mailed. Does that seem right to anyone else?

I have not heard of any official score reports taking 3 weeks to be received at a university -- unless the university is overseas or the exam results are for College Composition. CLEP has stated that they print the official results every night, but it does take a couple of days for human hands to get those transcripts processed into first class mail. At that point, it is up to our great postal system. That plus the distance your university is located from NJ (CLEP headquarters)!
As a proctor, I have asked CLEP if they offer an overnight service to their candidates (as DSST does), but they have said this is not offered (several times, in fact).

A score report to a school and a CLEP transcript are not the same thing. A score report is for one specific exam. When you take the exam, if you specify a college code and elect to have the scores transmitted, then the score for only that exam is sent to the school you specified. There is a delay of a few days built into the system. ETS makes until they have confirmation that your payment actually cleared before they release that score to the college.
A transcript is a complete record of all tests taken (maybe you can restrict the specific scores that are reported) that is sent to the recipients of your choosing for a cost of $20 per recipient in the United States. Foreign recipients might cost extra. The printed transcript is sent via the U.S. Postal Service.

I took Principles of Management back in Mid May, selected TESC as my score recipient, and it still hasn't showed up yet.
I'm thinking there may be a catch... I applied to TESC at the end of April, it took about a month for them to receive my transcripts. I took Principles of Management May 15, and for the first time selected TESC as the score recipient. I just enrolled in last TESC last week (June 4). Is it possible that because I wasn't enrolled TESC never got, or at least kept my score? I've been wondering why it hasn't been showing up... probably contact TESC about it.

Publius, you have asked a different question than the original poster did. You need to contact TESC. Schools do not always process and post CBE scores promptly.
I always advise students to make sure they are admitted to the recipient school before submitting test scores. When a school receives test scores (including ACT and SAT) and don't have a matching person in their database when they receive the score, there is a risk that the score will get lost and never credited.

Clep3705, I think you are assuming that the score report generated for a designated institution is electronic. This option is only open to those institutions that are set up with CLEP to accept electronic transcripts (no such feature exists for DSST). The norm is still first class mail.
From my experience with DSST, the official paper used for the "score report" and the "transcript" is the same. You are correct that an ordered transcript is charged by recipient, and can have any number of exams listed on one transcript (the candidate can specify all exam scores, only passing exam scores, or specific exam scores).
It can certainly never hurt to actually call and speak with someone when you have an urgent request for a transcript. You might come across a very understanding person who will do what they can to help you out.

I don't think that at all. I had omitted the word "not" from my original post. Correction made. Thanks for catching my typo.
