Great news Jennifer. I know we talked about this a few months back and I'm glad you took the plunge! Midwifery is a great profession. I considered it once myself so I wish you the best of luck. Check out the Johnson and Johnson site as they have tons of nursing grants and scholorships available. I know your college will miss you, but as a college instructor I understand your need for more! Good luck! Keep us posted! You can and will do whatever you set your mind to do!

Well, without going too off topic, I used a CNM for my first and last children, and lay midwives for my middle two. So, I am very supportive of lay midwifery (I've had 2 homebirths) but that's not the path for me- but that's because I live in Illinois, which is THE least lay-midwife friendly state in the country! For now, Illinois is our home because it's very homeschool friendly- I guess there will be other things to consider once our littles grow up Smile

Jennifer,

I have determined through my clinical analysis that you have slowly become what we call in the Instacert community a "College Degree Junkie."

It is nothing to be ashamed of actually. Once you acknowledge you have a severe addiction to continued education, that is half the battle. I know it will be tough, but I am sure if you try very hard you can slowly wean yourself off of college education and move back into mainstream society as someone who hates school.

I know, I know, it will be tough. However, I truly believe with much hard work and the support of your fellow Instacert, ers, you can do it.

Remember, one day at a time. One day at a time my friend.

I'm doing my last pre-req right now through Ocean County College, NJ (awesome online science by the way Ocean County College) for an associate degree program, and if I don't make the first cut- or they don't accept all my CLEP/DSST gen eds, I'm going into an accelerated BSN program. It's my second choice because it has more prereqs and costs a fortune.

I'm crazy to be sure, but i'm going to keep on taking classes at Harvard as time and money allow- the classes are A+, even though I may not earn my degree with them, I really enjoy the learning.
I will tell my employer next month that I quit, but I let you guys in on it early! I can't keep it quiet any more! I will have been at that college for 18 years, a chef for a lot longer than that, and I'm ready to do something else for my last 20 years.

My life-long goal is to become a midwife, and that's where I'm headed. Big Grin

Awesome- this is super exciting! Good for you, chasing your dream and making it a reality. How many nursing students can say they are also attending Harvard? Wink Rock on!
